<< Among the heirs of Catherine Butler whose real estate was sold in 1838 in Edgefield were John Barnett (or Burnett) and wife Rhoda; Nancy Waites and twelve others. So you can see the families WERE allied in Old Edgefield County. Delores Thompson >> Yes, but I can not tie those with mine, except the son of John Burnett & Rhoda Butler, Hezekiah, m. Millie Butler of my last post -- Millie was the d/o William Butler and _ Weaver, per Millie's death certificate. I'd had her as the sister of Henry (m. Betsie Goggans) and Mier (m. Lucinda _ ) Butler, lately finding that Henry was perhaps a Jr, hence, not s/o William. Henry's son, Pinkney (perhaps James Pinckney) Butler m1. a Rhoda S. Waits and m2. a Nancy "Nannie" Waits, but I can not find them in any Waits family data. So I do know all these families were all there, I have researched them extensively, but I have not found how they relate. I have learned with a message about the Goggans family book by Eve, that 4 Goggins brothers moved from VA to SC in 1766. Three of them settled in the Newberry area and one, George, went to Edgefield. I'm sure they visited and intermarried with each other and their neighbors. George's wife was a Butler from VA, married in Culpeper. George's great granddaughter, Betsie, married Henry Butler, above. So I am thinking these families travelled together for a while. [I tend to use Goggins and Goggans interchangeably -- sorry.] I don't know where Henry or Betsie Goggans Butler are buried, but their son, Pinkney, and much of his family is buried at Butler Cem in Saluda. One of Henry's sons is bur. at Chestnut Bapt in Saluda. Similarly, I do not know where Henry's brother, Mier, or his wife Lucinda might be buried, but his children and their families tended to be buried at Good Hope Bapt. Maybe with cemetary reords, I could figure out if Mier, Henry & Millie were siblings and who their parents really were. Bonnie Butler
