    3. Deb: I'm not working on the Crain's and you didn't mention what time period they were in the Saluda/Edgefield area. But Jane Revill's book of Edgefield County Records mentions a sale of the real estate of Ambrose Crain on the first Monday in May 1828. Widow Ann Crain received one-third ($15) and the remaining 2/3rds was split by Elizabeth Crain and George A. Crain. David Crain was administrator. Another sale was mentioned with the same heirs but no amounts. Also mentioned is Vary Crane was the daughter of Benjamin Lindsey according to his Will of 1841 and the wife of David Crane. Vary Crane was the sister of William Lindsey according to his Will of 1827. Perhaps this will help you in some way.
