Jim, Interesting...hadn't thought about that scenario, but you could be right. Perhaps they didn't know their homeland had changed their calendar from Julian to Gregorian. It would be interesting to know if there were other births and/or deaths recorded as February 30 during that time. Thanks for giving me food for thought.
