I would seek out the Historical Society in Charleston, who would certainly have information on that plantation. How fascinating! For a FABULOUS read on the very early history of Charleston and the slave trade, read "Slaves in the Family" by Charles Ball. It traces the family history of the Ball family, who were very wealthy rice plantation owners around Charleston. It will fascinate you, break your heart and open your mind all at the same time. It's also an excellent example of writing an extremely interesting family history - not just names and dates.
