    3. Beth, This probably won't help much, but in Martha Pool Nichols' Widow's appliction for pension there is an affidavit given by James Rembert, an ex-member of the South Carolina Legislature. Martha was the wife of William Nichols a Rev. War soldier who served from Anson County, NC. Wm. and family were in South Carolina by 1790 when the first census was taken. In 1790 William lived in Camden District, Claremont County. By 1800-10 the area where he lived had been changed to Salem County. By 1820 the area where William lived had again been changed to Sumter County and the area where he lived is now near Bishopville, Lee County. James Rembert said in his affidavit dated 28 Feb 1844 that he was personally acquainted with William Nichols for upwards of 15 years. That William Nichols departed this life on the 4th day of November 1823. This statement puts James Rembert's place of residence near William Nichols place of residence in about 1808. William Nichols is found on the 1800 and 1810 censuses of old Salem County which is no longer in existence. I hope this helps. Regards, Jimmie Nell (Nichols) Meadors Beth Reames wrote: > I'm looking for any geneologies on this couple who were born in the early 1800's in South Carolina.
