I would appreciate any assistance in looking for the parents and siblings of Elizabeth RUTLEDGE b. 1834, Greenville Dist., SC, m. Elisha HEDDEN II. At some point after her birth, Elizabeth's family probably moved from Greenville to Pickens District. Elizabeth's husband (my great-granduncle) died of disease while serving as pvt., Co. A, 20th SC, CSA. He is buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston. After his death she lived in Macon Co, NC. Hedden family legend says that Elizabeth was a direct descendant of the SC Rutledges who were signers of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. According to that legend she was disowned by her family for marrying below her status.
