Yes, but if you follow migration patterns from Georgia or South Carolina to Tennessee before 1800 chances are you may find where they originally settled when they came to the U.S. McKelvey is probably an Irish or Scottish name and a lot of them were Presbyterian, so wherever they settled would have been near their church or families of the same religion.. Also check other family names near where they lived. Yoy can check census records and see if there were any family members living close by or names associated with McElvey. Fran
