According to www.FamilyTreeDNA.com, the folks who are doing the testing for National Geographic, males get a 12 marker test. That can be shared with Family Tree DNA and more markers can be tested for the additional fee. Dear Mildred, That's the sad part of it. FTDNA then sends the inadequately tested person with the surname of your group to you. Then you have the responsibility of telling the poor soul he needs more testing to connect him to his family group within the surname. What fun it is to do the work the Company should have done in the beginning. We took the policy that if anyone wanted to be in our group they had to ask (when they asked we told them the whole story - more testing up to 37+ markers) and we did not just accept people that FTDNA shuffled over to us via their false promises program. To me the key in life is for responsible people to tell people all the fact and not use little white lies to get people into a DNA testing program. God Bless.
