I pretty much am looking in the area of York County and around Spartanburg , Also around Gastonia NC and the area south of Charlotte near the Buster Boyd bridge. Nancy
That being the case, Nancy, you should also check the NCroots since the areas you mentioned are North not South. Boyd is a well known name, just a matter of finding your own. Be happy to look into some of the reference books to see if your Boyds are there. Thanks a heap. My problem is the parentage of Thomas McGill Boyd. I believe there were Sr and Jr. Thomas McGill Boyds. I found a passenger list that had Johnstons as well as Boyds on board. I have reason to believe the Boyds, Glenns and Johnstons intermarried before the Civil War. If you come across anything that might be pertinent I would surely appreciate hearing from you. My mom once told me that some of the family lands were flooded when Lake Wylie was formed. One of the census records of the family refers to my great grandfather as David when his name was Isaac David but it gave me a clue as to find his Civil War records with his brother's regiment. He was around 15 when he enlisted in the war and served with his oldest two brothers. In later years, he was known as ID by the family. It helps when you know the names of siblings. Nancy
One thing I did find - a will "Boyd, Lindsey ( Book A-432) Will wr. 23 Sept. 1868 . Rec. 30 Oct. 1868. To my daus, Mary Ann Monroe, $100 and the rest of my heirs, John William Boyd, Joshua Boyd, Alfred Boyd, Milton Boyd, Harriet Boyd, Esther E. Henry, all to be equally divided among them." Evidently Mary Ann was married and the others still at home.
