I am looking for the information on Mary ATKESON(or Atkinson) b. c. 1835 SC in hopes that it will shed light on my family line. She is living with Jesse B. LEVINING and wife, Martha Eliza DOWNING, in Williamsburg Co., SC in 1850. Mary then is listed as M. Levining in 1860 in Williamsburg Co., SC, again with this same family. After that, I can find neither her nor her "parents" in the census. Martha Eliza Downing Levining's brother-in-law, R. W. BURNS, is in the Williamsburg Co., SC census from 1850 through 1870. I am not sure if he remarries or his wife changes the name by which she is called, but in 1880, his widow is listed as Nancy Burns, living with 3 of "her" children in Georgetown, Georgetown Co., SC. I have heard suppositions that part of the family went to Florida, some to GA, and some to Clarendon Co., SC. Can anyone tell me anything about this Mary Atkeson or what might have happened to the Burns children?
