Nita, I am a descendent of John Stanley Smith of Stanly County, NC. He was killed and/or died and is buried at either Gettysburg or Pt. Lookout, Md. His wife was an Efird. He would have been my grandfather's grandfather. I do not know much about him before he was married but most of his descendents are still in Stanley Co, NC near Norwood.
