JAMES RODGERS CODWISE born in 1800S at Mount Victory, St. Croix , West Indies. He went to college in NY and must have had a rift with the family because he was "lost" and no one had heard from that side of the family from late 1820's to early 1830's until I located them 3 years ago. My problem is that James married a woman named Martha (unknown) born about 1814 in South Carolina and their first child was born in South Carolina, about 1834, the rest of their children were born in AL. I'm not sure where they lived in South Carolina. He was related to LEAYCRAFTs but he may have deliberately stayed away from family members.
