If census data is correct, he was born in SC, before 1822. His wife was born in TN and his daughter, Frances (my GG-Grandmother) was born in TN if census records are correct, so I am assuming he probably left SC before 1822 with his own parents/siblings and prior to his marriage which probably took place in TN.
