The Cartersville (SC) that Bugsbunny gave info about is merely a crossroads community now. I don't know extensively about it. Some of my ancestors lived in the area in the 1700's when I conclude it was a thriving community. some of my ancestors are married into the Carter family of that area. I am of the Andrew DuBose line (Isaac, the Huguenot ancestor, Andrew's father), and I reside in Florence, Florence County, not too far from Carters Crossroads that Bugsbunny referred to.
