Forwarded (by Steve Coker) to stimulate Cemetery Tending. Take pictures of tombstones, transcribe them, weed & clean, protect and preserve. Plan a Carolina graveyard picnic and announce it in this email Forum! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, April 04, 2004 11:52 PM Subject: Mt. Olive Cemetery, Altha, Calhoun County, FL Clean up Saturday, April 10, 2004 Dear Relatives and Friends: I visited the Mt. Olive Cemetery yesterday and found many of the graves are in need of attention. The spring growth of weeds, briars, and ant beds are already starting. There were no bugs, no mosquitos, or nats, but there is a need for some weed pulling and ant poison. Would any of you like to meet me at the cemetery on Saturday, April 10, 2004, to do some grave cleaning? I know it is Easter weekend and many of you have other plans, but I just thought it might be a good opportunity to get in touch with each other and with our ancestry and get some good exercise too. Can I get some volunteers to help me that day? I will bring a bag lunch, a sun hat, 5 gallons of water, garden tools, gloves, gas edger, ant poison, and some weed killer. I can set up a tent and put a porta john inside it, if needed, for the calls of nature. Can any of you folks bring your hat, gloves, and tools and a willing back for a few hours? Who can come join me for an hour? for the morning? or the afternoon? or all day? There is a little restaurant in Altha, FL now and the food fare is good. You city fellers and urban dwellers can go down there to eat lunch if you like. I plan to be there early and will start with my parents graves, and then grandparents graves, and great grandparents graves. Who wants to join me? Sincerely, Stan Peacock P.O.
