    3. does anyone know of any resources available on "indian traders/agents" located in south carolina and/or georgia prior to 1870?? family rumor has it that an ancestor was an "indian agent" & supposedly married a cherokee woman... would be hugely appreciative of any suggestions... thanks!!!

    3. The book "South Carolina Indians, Indian Traders, and other Ethnic Connections beginning in 1760" by Theresa Hicks is the best place to begin. This book is out of print but is available at many libraries. There are a number of other sources listed at http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/rarebk/nativeamericangenealogy.html that look promising as well.
