I am looking for information on my ancestor, Mary GILES, and her family. Mary GILES was born in 1710 at St. Michael's Parish, Bridgetown, Barbados and died 26 May 1757 at Charleston County, South Carolina. She married Thomas LEE 1 April 1733 at Bridgetown, St. Michael's Parish, Barbados. Thomas LEE was born 6 Feb 1710 in Bridgetown, St. Michael's Parish, Barbados and died 7 August 1769 at Charleston, Charleston Co., SC. His parents were Francis LEE and Mary BARNELL. This is per the book, "The Descendants of Thomas Lee of Charleston" by Thomas Carpenter Read. Thomas LEE and Mary GILES had at least one child, a son, named Stephen LEE (He is listed as Major Stephen LEE and his son is listed as Major Paul Smiser Hutson LEE and I'm not sure if "Major" is a family first name or if both of them attained the same rank in the military!?!) Paul's mother was a SMISER, but I don't know where the name HUTSON fits. Any information on these families would be helpful. Thanks! Fredreica speyer@bellsouth.net
