It says, "These families lived along the Enoree River and several creeks, notable were Duncan's, Warrior's, and King's. The communities or churches from which they came were primarily Warrior's Creek, Sardis Methodist, Old Duckett (Pleasant Hill), and Hurricane Baptist, plus Duncan's Creek and King's Creek Presbyterian Churches. The first to arrived in 1849. They were followed by a large surge of immigrants in 1853, another in 1857-58. The Civil War interrupted the flow of settlers, but 1871 saw another large surge of people. The early people traveled by wagon and oxcart, but by 1880, there was a railroad." "The following is a list of some of the families from Laurens and Newberry Counties who came to Howard County, AR. No doubt there were many, many more. ADAIR, ANDERSON, BEASLEY, BURGUSS, BRIGGS, BOYD, BISHOP, BELL, COPELAND, CAMPBELL, CANNON, CLARDY, CLEGG, CROMER, DEAN, DILLARD, DALRYMPLE, DUCKETT, DOVE, DAVIS, DILDY, EAST, FORD, FOSTER, FOWLER, FLOYD, FERGUSON, FORGY, GARY, GLASGOW, GARRETT, GOODLETT, HILL, HENDERSON, HANNA, HUNTER, HALLER, HUDDLESTON, HUTCHINSON, HOLLAND, HENDRICKS, JONES, JACQUES, JEANS, JOHNSON, KENNEDY, LESLIE, MAY, MCCRARY, MAYFIELD, MARTINDALE, MASON, MERRELL, MEADORS, NABORS, NORMAN, NORWOOD, ODELL, OWENS, PRICE, PUCKETT, RAY, ROBERSON, REEDER, RAMAGE, STEEL, SHAVER, SHIRLEY, STONE, SIMPSON, SMITH, THOMPSON, TINSLEY, TOLAND, WOLFF, WILLIAMS, WHITMORE, WORKMAN, WATSON, WALLACE, WESSON, WILSON, WRIGHT, VAUGHN, YOUNG, AND YORK."
