Good afternoon: America M. Kirkland was born in 1836 in Russellville, Franklin County AL. Her parents were Joab Watson Kirkland, born 1794 in SC and Eunice Stodgell, born about 1800 in KY. Joab served in the military in 1812. They were married in 1819 (?) in Courtland, Lawrence County AL. Joab died in 1856 in Russellville, Franklin County AL. America was married first to Crittenden and second to a much older man, John Siddons, with whom she had two sons, Ulysess and Posy (Richard) Siddons, nee Crittenden. America died in 1882 in Winston County AL. Any assistance with primary or secondary documentation of these lines and their extension greatly appreciated. Always happy to swap files. Walt

I wish I could connect with your family and also that I could find Bryant's parents also. I remember that Art thought he might be related to Jesse Worrell, 1778, Wayne County, NC as they lived in same areas in NC and again in GA. This Jesse has been traced back to William Worrell who came to Isle of Wight (Wythe?) VA and died there after 1736. Jesse's son, Haywood Worrell came to Dale County, AL. The courthouse records in Dale County were destroyed in 1886 but remains 3 Worrell related records (Jesse, John D and Wesley Rudd whose son had married Hayward's daugters.) I think the assumption is that John D was John Durant Worrell. Art thought Bryant and my Wesley (who may have been named after a William Wesley for whom Wesley Rudd was also named who lived in NC by the family) traveled then on to Coosa. Perry would be South of Coosa and that is where Wesley Worrell resided at the time of his marriage in 1839. ! Marengo County borders Perry and was home to James Madison Worrell for a while. Both Bryant and Wesley had some children and descendants with similar names as all the Worrells in that area tend to do. My Thomas Jefferson Worrell served in Civil War at same time as your Thomas Jefferson Worrell.
Good afternoon: Brinson Hollis, Minister was born about 1795 (or about 1784) in North Carolina. Brinson and his wife of many years, Jennet Anderson, were married in Craven County North Carolina in 1815. There was a move from North Carolina to Georgia in the period of 1838 to 1840, probably to Troup County. They were then in Dale County Alabama by 1844 when one of the children was born. During the period 1852 - 1860 Brinson may have been living with his son John in Florida but he certainly was in Jackson County Florida by 1860. At some point during this period of 1850 to 1860 his wife Jennet died. Brinson died in 1880 in Jackson County, Florida after living with his daughter Elizabeth Hollis O'Connor for years. Any assistance with primary or secondary documentation of these lines and their extension greatly appreciated. Always happy to swap files. Walt

(Art was my dad). I noticed the NC Worrells seem to be the ones I need to concentrate on. I find Kinchen, Byrd, Thomas surnames very common there but not in the Pennsylvania group. Dorcas also seems very common there. Since Kinchen Thomas Worrell was my GGGfather I checked along those lines. I find a Dorcas Byrd born of John Byrd and Dorcas Lee Hobbs about the right time to be our Dorcas Byrd Worrell but she married someone else and none of her kid's names match. I even found several Bryant surnames but no Bryant Worrell that I can connect to his father (whoever that may be). Another problem I find is that several Worrells came from England at various times (Robert in 1638 VA, James in 1650 VA, Richard and John Worrell (Warrell) in 1684 on the ship's manifest with William Penn). If I could only find Bryant Worrell's dad I would be very happy. I do notice a Benjamin Worrell born to Shadrack and Sally Wellons Worrell in 1790 in Southa! mpton Co, VA. Could Benjamin be Bryant???. Later

I am pretty certain that all my SC Watsons would have been found in Sumter (and later Lee) County; they all came from Johnston NC in the very early 1800s, and they probably departed to TN in around 1827 on their way to TX (they never made it, and some returned to GA) I found some of the Watson wills in my brief visit to the Sumter Co. Courthouse this last August, but none that I was really pursuing... the ones I most need are for Obediah Watson (ca. 1765 - ??), Thomas Watson (ca. 1790-1829), and Dempsey Watson (ca. 1794 - ??). It is likely that Obediah and Thomas actually died in Tennessee somtime 1829-1835. Because of my unfamiliarity with the courthouse scene, however, I am not certain that I found everything will-wise or death record-wise that could be there in Sumter..

There is a VA office in all big towns. If you have the records of a Civial War Vet.You turn them into the VA and ask for a head stone for that vet. Those war 1860-1865 are in each state archives. If you know the persons name you order those records. You need to know the state also. Louise
