    1. Re: [SC] LANGSTER SOUTH CAROLINA
    2. I just looked at the road map for SC. There is no Langster South Carolina. I live in the state and have never heard of it. Most likely, the spelling of the word Lancaster has been spelled on the tombstone the way it sounds to the carver of the stone. I would accept it as Lancaster. -----Original Message----- From: paynejd@bellsouth.net To: SCROOTS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 23 Jun 2006 05:47:24 -0500 Subject: [SC] LANGSTER SOUTH CAROLINA Does anyone know of a place name "Langster" in South Carolina? 3. Thanks , where I am coming from is follows: John Strain Grave Marker states that he was born in Langster, South Carolina. They could have missed spelled it. He was born about 1840 and died in 1895. Buried in Clay County Alabama. 1. Re: [SC] Round Top Branch/Crane Creek, Richland Co., SC questions/Maps
    2. Hi Tony, The 1839 map at the Ala. site below shows Crane Creek & Round Top. I don't know if the map is accurate but you might compare it to some of the others at the scroots site and be able to find a more exact location for the plat. You can also look at plats for some of the neighbors, I've found some to be very detailed and others....well, more or less boxes. I guess it depended on the surveyor. I found this one at the SC archives online index: Series Number: S213190 Volume: 0025 Page: 00178 Item: 02 Date: 1790/05/14 Description: SCOTT, JAMES, PLAT FOR 96 ACRES ON ROUND TOP BRANCH, CAMDEN DISTRICT, SURVEYED BY ALEXANDER JOHNSTON ON MAY 30, 1785. Names Indexed: SCOTT, JAMES/JOHNSTON, ALEXANDER/RICHARDSON, MRS./LEWIS, JACOB/NEILSON/ Locations: CAMDEN DISTRICT/CRAIN CREEK/BROAD RIVER/ROUND TOP BRANCH Type: PLAT/ Topics: / _http://alabamamaps.ua.edu/historicalmaps/us_states/southcarolina/index.html_ (http://alabamamaps.ua.edu/historicalmaps/us_states/southcarolina/index.html) _http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~scroots/places.html_ (http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~scroots/places.html) Donna

    1. Hendricks DNA Project Update
    2. Herbert Hendricks
    3. Hendricks DNA Project Update 06/17/2006 Note: 26 Hendricks Groups with results or partial results from 56 posted out of a total of 61 DNA participants Our Web Site Address at FTDNA is http://www.ftdna.com/public/hendricks/<http://www.ftdna.com/public/hendricks/>. A copy of the DNA results for each group and a mini-lineage is available via request to Herb_316@MSN.com<mailto:Herb_316@MSN.com> Summary 1. Pamunkey (VA) Hendrick Nordic Haplotype instead of Western Europe. DNA profile established. A fourth DNA participant has matched to this group (37 markers). Deep Clad results indicate Nordic possible routing to Dutch location per Ben Hendrick. 2. Frontier Hendricks Nordic Haplotype instead of Western Europe, Two Mile Creek, Spartanburg District, SC Hendricks group identified as Frontier Hendricks. Also Isaac Hendrix group that went into Franklin Co., GA. DNA profile Established. We now have 6 Frontier Hendricks with 37 marker results which has solidified two sons of Albertus Hendrixson, Jacobus and Johannes and another Frontier Hendricks with 25 marker results for a total of 6 in this group. 3. Daniel Hendrick of MA Nordic Haplotype instead of Western Europe; DNA profile Established. Five DNA participants plus the Daniel Hendricks of Bertie Co., NC all seem to match for a total of 7 participants for this group. A Martin Hendrix has had a deep clades test. 4.. A Daniel Hendrick Sr. of Bertie Co., NC descendant, Jabesh Hendricks of NC, to Edgefield Co., SC to Bullock Co., GA does not match prior Albemarle Hendricks participant, however another Jabesh Hendrick matches the Daniel Hendrick of MA group within the same difference within the Daniel Hendrick of MA Group. It was concluded the first Daniel Hendrick Sr of Bertie Co., NC descendant Jabesh Hendrick is considered to also match the Daniel Hendrick because of a fast moving mutation site. Another cousin of the Bullock Co., GA group will also be tested. Therefore at this time it is considered that the Daniel Hendrick of MA and the Daniel Hendricks Sr. of Bertie Co., NC has the same common descendant in Daniel Hendrick of MA. 5. Proof of two Albemarle Hendricks groups early on in Eastern NC? See 39586 and 28876, also see Patti Mulnix book on Daniel Hendricks Sr. of Bertie Co., NC. 5. Moses Hendricks m Susanna of SC not Frontier Hendricks. Eastern Europe Descent, DNA Profile Established, five participants. One had his DNA done at Relative Genetics. All five relatives have an excellent match to prove Moses Hendricks m Susanna's DNA profile... 6. James Hendricks m Jane of SC not Frontier Hendricks. Western Europe Descent, DNA Profile Established, four participants. A deep clades test results lead to a dead end due to lack of sufficient data base and an earlier defined grouping. 7. Nordic descent dominate group of Hendricks as to date 4/07/2006 8. Newberry County/District SC Hendricks before 1800 all four groups identified via DNA. Searching to identify another group found there shortly after 1800; Garrett Hendrick wife Ruth Family. HDH Note: this is not old Garrett Hendrix wife Mary. 9. The only Lexington Co., SC Hendricks to date does not match to Frontier Hendricks per Dr. J. S. Davenports' research conclusions in Frontier Hendricks. DNA participant 37994 has K-2 Haplotype from Lexington, SC... We have finally obtained a DNA sample from the Lexington Hendrix group; Tobias Hendricks m Margaret Sprenckel. Results of this test show this Tobias Hendricks m Margaret Sprenckel group to be Frontier Hendricks. 10. The Henry Hendricks b NJ 1730 Group is now up to 4 DNA candidates and is showing 37 markers test an excellent match to all the participants. 11. We now have a Hendrickson with an N haplotype, with no matches to another group. See definition at end of DNA Chart. 12. Group 3 James Hendricks has two participants with an exact match between both participants. 13. The Henry Hendrix m Martha Marput of Newberry, SC and the Archibald Hendrix of Lexington, SC has matching Haplogroup of K-2. See description at end of DNA Chart. 14. We have two DNA participants whose lineage is Gov. William Hendricks of IN. Note this lineage does not match to the Frontier Hendricks lineage predicted by Davenport, Wright and others of the Hendricks Family Association. God Bless. 1. Round Top Branch/Crane Creek, Richland Co., SC questions
    2. Tony L. Cox
    3. I have the following land description on a 1784 SC state land grant [Camden District Plat Book B]. "...Situate on the S. side of Crane Creek once Branch called round Top Branch ..." The only Crane Creek listed by GNIS within the old Camden District is the one in Richland County which flows westward north of Columbia into the Broad River. For Crane Creek, GNIS lists a variant name of Beasley Creek, but no Round Top Branch. Modern day Beasley Creek is a northern tributary of Crane Creek. GNIS lists a Round Top Branch in the same region. North of Crane Creek, the branch is a tributary of Twenty Five Mile Creek flowing eastward into the Wateree. No varient name is listed for Round Top Branch. My questions: Does anyone know of alternate historical names for Round Top Branch? Or any part of Crane Creek that was once known as Round Top Branch? Tony
