According to Langles' <>, Vol 1, Deed Book S, pg 316, has the following <Deed of Gift> dated 9 Sept 1738- <<Nahaniel Snow and FRANCES, his wife, of the Parish of St. James Goose Creek to their loving friends Edward Shrewsbury and Mary his wife ------>> According to an unknown source, there exists a family Bible record which says that Dr. Nathaniel Snow married Frances Chicken. Is this deed by the senior Dr. Nahaniel Snow or his son of the same name? Is his wife, Frances, the former Frances Chicken? Thanks for help. Ed T of PGH <<the senior Chicken chaser>>

Posted on: The SCRoots Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Sponsor/SCRoots/502 Surname: Polson, Huggins, McLean, Gainey, Crowley, Odom, Goodale, Roscoe, Brown, Boone ------------------------- I'm in the process of typing a manuscript on the early history of some Chesterfield, SC families that lived near Juniper Creek and Bear Creek in the 1800's. I've been collecting information for 10 years from land conveyances, deeds, wills, probate, cemetery records and court cases. I would like to donate a copy of this manuscript to the new search room in Chesterfield. If anyone has information on the families listed, please contact me at npbaugh@hotmail.com Maybe someone has some old letters or Bible entries that they would like to share. I would be most appreciative.
I attended a 50th anniversary luncheon at USC Aiken on Tuesday for individuals and their descendants of the inhabitants of what is now the SRS and was then the towns of Dunbarton, Myers Mill, Ellenton, and various rural areas. I am certain (documented) that individuals from the counties of Aiken, Barnwell, Beaufort, Hampton, Jasper or their descendants were affected. Additionally, I am sending this information to the lowcountry and roots lists for information. Please contact me directly (johnculbertson@lycos.com) if you are interested in the creation of such a list. Thank you for your time and consideration. Dear List Members, I am interested in the origin of the name of the town, Grays Hill. This is what my family has told me. I'd like to know if anyone else has a story about this small rural area of Beaufort County, South Carolina. Family lore says that the small town of Gray's Hill in Beaufort County, South Carolina, was named by my grandfather, William Melvin Davis (1877-1954). He ran a small store and was a notary public (I have his iron notary press). Around the turn of the century, the US Post Office wanted to bring postal service to the town and asked him to give the town a name. From my understanding, my grandfather's store was used for the postal service. I'd love to hear from others who may have connections to Gray's Hill. My South Carolina surnames are: DAVIS, YOUMANS, ZAHLER, HEAPE, ULMER, McTEER, MARVIN, CREWS, CLARKE, STANYARNE, and BUCKNER. South Carolina counties are Hampton, Colleton, Beaufort, and Jasper of the SC Lowcountry. My Georgia surnames are SHERWOOD and BOYD.
