I am looking for information on the family of James Ohear. The family is associated with the Donnom/Dunham family. Are they connected by marriage? Also appear connected to the Fabian Family of Colleton County all members of the Willtown dissenting congreation. Deborah Byrd
Barbara, Would Sarah Black Hamilton who married John McCants be the Sarah McCants referenced as the sister to Margaret Hambleton in the will of Margaret in Williamsburg District, SC, dated 23 Feb. 1816? If so, do you have any information on the family of Sarah? I am descended from her sister, Jane Hamilton Cockfield, and would very much appreciate any information, clues, etc, as to their parentage. Can share information on the descendants of Jane, if you are interested. Although I don't have any information on your line of Eaddy's, I am related to the Eaddy's of Kingstree, S.C. Maybe one day we can connect our families.
I am searching for John and Joseph Ainger (Anger,Angie, Aungier) who were in SC in the 1600's and 1700's.I believe they were french huguenots. Can anyone do a lookup in any sources they have available and tell me something about them. There is a probate file for Joseph, I believe, around 1752. There may be a connection to Caribean islands including Barbados. Thanks. Tom Angers Lafayette, Louisiana

Posted on: The SCRoots Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Sponsor/SCRoots/533 Surname: Phillips ------------------------- Barbara it is sure possible that, that could be my Phillips but I have nothing past her marriage to Ernest Crowe in Ohatchee, Alabama and the only date I have is that her first child (I think he was her first child), was born on 8-5-1924. I understand that she died rather young and some of her relatives took her two smallest children and raised them. And her husband Ernest went to Tennessee and remarried, and died there. This is absolutely all I have, the one I was hunting was her son Lanis Crowe, and he died in 1968. but of course a little info makes one want more and seems Ernest got seperated from his family (brothers and etc.) and doesn't seem as though they know much about any of them. And so far have not been able to find any of the siblings to see what they might know. Thanks a lot for your answer. Sue Hayes

There is a descripency in records. They did move to Tallapoosa County in Al via GA. Parmer and his wife had a number of children and their children had a number of children also. It is possible we could have shared ancestors. If you think this fits email me and I will pull the Phillips line and we'll take a look. Barbara
I am posting this in the hopes that someone may have more info on this family. George MILLER was in the western part of Pendleton Dist. (now Pickens Co.), SC, by at least 1790 when he was counted in the 1790 Census. He received a land grant on Rices Creek in the same area in 1792. I have records of other grants in 1771 & 1774, but need to prove that this is the same George MILLER. By the ages of his children, George was born abt 1740, place unknown [census reports confirm only that he was b. by 1755]. George was married to Mary UNKNOWN who could have been Indian/Native American. Their children were known to include the following (Are there others?): Isaac, Sr., md. Hester Elizabeth WEAVER; remained in Pickens Co. Micah/Michael, md. Margaret BOREN, moved to KY, then to Claiborne Parish, LA Morris, md. Catherine BOREN, moved to KY, then to Claiborne Parish, LA George, no info Jesse, appears to have moved back to SC from KY Jacob, md. Rhoda WIMBERLY, moved to KY, gave land for Green River Bapt. Adam, md. Betsy TAYLOR in KY Susannah, mentioned in father's will in KY, 1812 Ana, mentioned in father's will in KY, 1812 Agnes, no info There may have been other children, in particular, daughters named Mary, Isabella, or Barbara. Other info above may be inaccurate, but I am seeking help to correct and/or verify these children. George MILLER and his wife Mary left Pickens Co. in 1804 and moved to Warren Co., KY; his will was filed there 3/12/1812. Those mentioned in his will include: wife Mary, daughters Ana and Susannah ("who took care of us in our sickness"), Micah MILLER,exe; Berryman ROE,exe; wit: William MELTON, Francis BOREN, Matthew BOREN. There were families with the surnames of ROE, MELTON, BOREN, and WIMBERLY who left SC in 1804 when George MILLER and Mary left Old Pendleton Dist. Either Francis or Matthew BOREN (above) was married to a dau of George's and Berryman ROE was married to another daughter (need their first names). 1790 Census, Pendleton Dist., SC: M460 MILLER Georg 02 (males >16) 03 (males <16) 06 (females) 00 00 1800 Census, Pendleton Dist., SC: George MILLER 01101-00301-00 Michael MILLER 10100-00100-00 (listed near John BOREN, Matthew BOREN, Lewis WIMBERLY, Francis BOREN [who had sons Isaac and Jesse BOREN also], Isaac MILLER, Jesse MILLER, Wm. KILBURNE) 1810 Census, Warren Co., KY: George MILLER 00101-10121-00 I would like to know which MILLER daughter married Berryman ROE, and which one was married to a BOREN. The Rebecca WIMBERLY who married Jacob MILLER was a dau of Lewis WIMBERLY and his wf. Martha BARBEE. George MILLER, according to family as well as local Pickens Co. legend was a German soldier (Hessian?) who first came into the upstate of SC to assist in fighting the Indians. He was born by at least 1755 if you go by the fact the he was 45+ in 1800; son Isaac was born abt. 1765, so George was prob. born 1745 or earlier. George and his son Isaac, Sr., who remained in Pendleton Dist., were responsible for witnessing statements for many later Germans who came into the area in the late 1700s-early 1800s and applied for citizenship. This seems to point more to the fact that he was of German origin. The WIMBERLY family was in Bertie Co., NC bef. coming to SC and the BOREN family seems to have been in Surrey Co., NC and bef. that Halifax Co., VA. If anyone has any clue, ideas, proof about George MILLER's origins, I would love to hear from you. I have researched this family since I was a child and can provide you with any info that I have (which is an awful lot of "stuff"). I am very interested in whether or not George MILLER did come fr. Germany and wherever else he may have come from; I am also interested in his descendants. I have a great deal of info on the descendants of Isaac MILLER, Sr. (my line), but I have also managed to trace some of the other children with the assistance of others on the internet in the last few years. I would love to hear from you if you can connect with any of these MILLER, BOREN, WIMBERLY, ROE, MELTON families! I would also love any info on Mary MILLER, wf. of George. I know this is long and involved, but I thank you so much for your time! If the above is not clear, write me! Godspeed....and a safe and happy new year! Dolores Miller Pringle, dau of Cody Morris MILLER, II., son of George Henry Alexander MILLER, son of Elijah DeForrest MILLER, son of Morris Monroe MILLER, son of Isaac N. MILLER, Jr., son of Isaac MILLER, Sr., son of George MILLER/Georg MUELLER? - 8th generation native of Pickens Co., SC and very proud of those beautiful hills!
Hi, My name is Deborah. I'm interested in tracing my father's side of the family. His name is Pete Phillips (still living). My grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (Haygood) Phillips, passed away last January. My grandfather,Wade, passed away in 1964, I think. His grave is marked with a "Woodsman's" stone. I'll have to ask my dad the name of the cemetery where most of the family is buried. There are also Watkins in this family. My dad grew up in Long Creek ( Oconee County). The Haygoods are mostly in/from Cartersville, Ga. My dad lives there now. A few years before she died Grandma gave me a picture of her grandfather (I think, I'll have to ask again) and some other people guarding a still. Deborah

Jane, I am forwarding your query to Margaret Waters. She is collecting and plotting the land grant plats between the North and South Forks of the Edisto River as far north as the Perry - Wagner area. I don't know if your McCombs plats are in this area, but I'm sure Margaret will be able to offer suggestions - she is very knowledgeable on the whole subject of early grants, transfers, etc. This also applies to others on this list, especially anyone with plats, deeds or ancestors in the area I mentioned. There are more than 1000 original grants in this area, so I'm sure that Margaret will appreciate any help, such as copies of plats, deeds, or just information as to the physical location of early land grants or later transfers or divisions of those early grants.
