From this quick check one might guess the word could mean any of the following. a trick, about trick, or one trick a tricot, about tricot, or one tricot a twilled cloth, about twilled cloth, or one twilled cloth a knitted fabric, about knitted fabric, or one knitted fabric a country, a state, or a land etc. SWEDISH WORD | ENGLISH TRANSLATION en [en:] adv. | about en [en:] ett indefinite article | a, an en [en:] ens pron. | one en [en:] ett numeral | one en [e:n] enen enar noun | juniper trick [trik:] tricket trick tricken noun | trick trikå [trik'å:] trikån trikåer noun | tricot rike [²r'i:ke] riket riken rikena noun | country, state From http://www.yourdictionary.com/ we have that tricot means: tricot Pronunciation: 'trE-(")kO, 'trI-k&t Function: noun Etymology: French, from tricoter to knit, from Middle French, to agitate, hop, ultimately from Old French estriquier to stroke, of Germanic origin; akin to Old English strIcan to stroke -- more at STRIKE Date: 1872 1 : a plain warp-knitted fabric (as of nylon, wool, rayon, silk, or cotton) with a close inelastic knit and used especially in clothing (as underwear) 2 : a twilled clothing fabric of wool with fine warp ribs or of wool and cotton with fine weft ribs

    3. If really interested, there are two that I know of and probably more will be popping up along the way, since they've broken the code on DNA. The one I was talking about is the one that is being conducted by Prof. Scott Woodward of BYU (Brigham Young University) he and others are conducting a large research project to construct a genealogy library based on DNA. Their goal to put it simply, is to construct a family tree for the human race. To read about the project go to their website: http://molecular-genealogy.byu.edu/ I recently watched a PBS special about how Scott Woodward and others went to Egypt to gather DNA to try and make a geanealogy chart for the Pharaohs. Their goal is what attracted me. They are also privately funded. Not like the next one I will mention. The other one is: The Human Genome Project and haven't read about them yet. I'm leaning more towards the the one being conducted by Scott Woodward. This one is funded by the government. You can read about them at: http://www.ornl.gov/hgmis "From: "Janet Jilote" <jilote@earthlink.net> Reply-To: SCROOTS-L@rootsweb.com To: SCROOTS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [SC] DNA Project Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2001 06:12:52 -0500 Where can I donate! 1. [SC] Donaldson roots
    2. Joanne Harley
    3. Bill Hughes, Did you get my email I sent you recently re: the Donaldson/Kershaw trip to Camden with the injured soldier during the Rev. War???. I am working on a John Donaldson who was born in England ca. 1745 according to his Rev. War Record. He was a merchant, or so his papers claimed in land records, in Craven Co. ca. 1775 (the Cheraw Dist., SC.) As a merchant he did business with the Kershaw brothers, who were wholesalers, if I remember correctly. During the REV. War, he fought under Harrington and was at Cross Creek often. He is mentioned in letters in "History of the Old Cheraws". He also carried, in a wagon, an injured soldier from Charleston to Camden with Ely Kershaw, who was likely a friend, for Kershaw was listed as an executor in his Will written in June, 1780,probated 1781 when Donaldson was only 35-36 years old. I have seen information that claimed many of the young men wrote wills during the war years since they did not know if they would survive or not. After the war, John DONALDSON's widow, Sarah, now remarried to Daniel Hicks, and still in Cheraw, sold 1700 acres of property Donaldson had bought during the war years in Richmond Co.,NC to pay the debts owed the Kershaw Co.. John Donaldson and his wife Sarah, had three sons. I have only found one, John, who married Jincy Fields, daughter of Elizabeth Pledger and Wm. Fields (marriage record in Richmond Co.,NC). There are two sons missing still. Peter and William Donaldson. They may have been raised in Cheraw, but since the records there are so slim, I have yet to find anything . I did find Sarah and Daniel Hicks in Chesterfield in 1788 in a summons to appear in court in Marlboro Co., SC. If anyone has anything they can add to this, I would welcome the information. I cannot find any information on where or how Donaldson died in the Rev. War. I checked the lists of the prison ships that were found in the harbor in Charleston. Any suggestions? His service record from the Archives did not give that information. Joanne Harley harleyclan@coastalnet.com
