Anntoinette Yes, I know that, but my question is "To what was the email referring as being a hoot?" There was no clue as to the original email. Digest #'s mean nothing to those of us on the regular mail mode of the list. What was a hoot? Do those of you who subscribe to the Digest mode understand that the #'s mean nothing to those of us who subscribe to the list mode? This is not the first one that doesn't make sense to us if we don't have the title or at least a little of the original message. I am not trying to be critical but just thought that an explanation might help for the future. Eldon, that was a hoot. I wish I had thought of something like that. I have been almost begging (very politely) for information On Elie(e) and Archelaus Moore from Oconee Co. and no takers. I haven't found out how to get their attention, But so goes "The Days of Our Lifes". Good Luck and happy digging. :-)

I would like to know about this too. Could answers be posted to the list? Thanks, Arlene
Does anyone know if any of the Allegiance to the Crown records from the mid 1700s survived? In the Council Journals they refer to them swearing their allegiance to the Crown at Charleston. Thanks Debi

Good Heavens, DON'T miss the State Archives at Columbia. I don't have the exact address but it is on Parklane Ave. You can access it from Two Notch Road or I-277. It is sort of in the I-26, I-77, I-277 triangle. They have all the Revolutionary War records - they kept better state-level records than any place else I have been. They also have all the Laurens County official records on microfilm. Their library section has published works on the various counties. And, last but not least, they have the most helpful staff in the Southeastern U.S. BTW what Wrights are you researching? Hi and welcome to S.C. You will find a wealth of information at the Caroliniana Library on the U.S.C. campus and the state archives on Parklane Rd. in Columbia. In Charleston, the Charleston County Library on Calhoun St. is just one of the good places to do research. There are other places in Charleston but I have not used them yet. The library can guide you to those. Happy Hunting! Kay
