Hi, I came across this in the 1880 census for St James Goose Creek. In the 1860 census Nathaniel and Harriet was in the St Johns Berkeley Parish near several other Taylor families one of which was my great-grandfather Frederick Taylor. 1880 Census, St James, Goose Creek Nathaniel Taylor Age 40= 1840 Farmer wife Harriet 36=1844 Children: Peter V 18=1862 Jefsie dau. 16 Benjamin 13 Emma 12 Julius 10 Annabel 8 Viola 6 Mary E 4 Elizabeth 2 John 1 In the 1860 Census , St Johns Berkeley Parish. Frederick Taylor age 24? Catherine Baylor 1837 Children: Lewis C 1853 John W 1856 Isabell J 1859 Is there anyone out there that might know the connection between these two families. There is a Mary, Gabriel, James, Henry, Frederick and Nathaniel that I'm trying to connect. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Murray

Gentry b. 1813 in SC. He married Nancy Barrett b. 1813 in SC, 1842 in Gwinnett Co. GA. Thanks
Sandy thanx for the response You are right it is possible for Samuel to be the son of Nathaniel Sr. Sarah Williamson was the second wife of Nathaniel Sr. so it had to be this Sara or a daughter named Sara to be asking for ltrs of Adm. What is strange here is that nathaniel sr. died 1790 in Burke, why the delay in administering his estate? that's 24 years? Possible however, could be that some land laying idle needed to be sold and this was the only way to clear the courts to allow Sara to sell it or some such reason. Nathaniel Jr. died Montgomery Co 1838 so easily his mother could have been living with or near him. He was a Judge, Justice or some such public figure in Screven/Montgomery Co can't remember just what I saw on that. I truly do wish I could add something to solving your search but I don't have anything that will help us solve this mystery. I do have some notes that I have collected and will gladly share them if you think they might help. I have been to Atlanta [the state Archives] many times searching these counties and cannot find the straw that ties folks together. If you do please share with me. The best rundown I have seen is from a friend John Culbertson who sent me some quotes from a book entitled. I'll go look be right back. The books quoted are: Families of Burke Co by R. S. Davis Our Family Circle by ? My Mother's Family Tree by maybe Eunice Miller Bailey? I did not find any of these books in the state archives I need to visit Washington Library in Macon again and see if they have them. You are welcome to have these notes and any other notes I have on Nathaniel just ask for them and say you will share back anything they help you determine later. I am easy to get along with and I share willingly so ask. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Slsamz@aol.com> To: <SCROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2001 4:40 PM Subject: Re: [SC] MILLER, Nathaniel SC to GA 1759 > Charles, Don't know if you subscribe to the GA rootsweb list or not. Let me start off by saying God is good............. The reason I said that is because I just read some documents on a Gourdin family. I don't know if it is your family or not. The South Carolina Historical Society here in Charleston has alot of information....these Gourdin's were in Georgetown County. I don't know if this helps you or not but good luck. I am searching for info on Elizabeth Kersey and Charlotte Gourdin who were from South Carolina or ended up there. They are grandmothers on the June side of my family (John Francis June). For some reason, information seems to be scant on these two. Kit

Sandy, I may have asked you before (I have asked so many that I lose track of which persons I have contacted. I am looking for a James Clark, b 1807-08 SC. He is found in Pickens Co. William W. HARDWICK was born in Edgefield District South Carolina in 1754. He is listed on the 1779 list as a original member of the Colony. I think that might be 1771. He supposedly married Mary Jane FILES. They relocated to Lee County Georgia in 1827 to receive a grant of acres for his service in the American Revolution. Can any tell me who his parents were and if they are connected to the HARDWICK'S of Westmoreland County Virginia. William died in 1850 in Lee County Georgia. Some think that John C. HARDWICK and Elizabeth HARDWICK STRINGER might be grandchildren instead of the children of William and Mary. I think that Mary is in her eighties about this time, but am not all together sure. Charles, Don't know if you subscribe to the GA rootsweb list or not. Charles, Maybe you've posted this info before and maybe I've responded but I'm on lot's of mailing lists and need to stop as I can't keep up with what I'm posting!!! :) I have a line of MILLERS. But have not been actively looking for them as I've been focusing on other lines. I'd hate to lose a chance for information. My MILLER is Jerry or Jeremiah MILLER born circa 1775-1790. He was called an old settler in the area of what was once FRANKLIN CO, GA but now called HART CO, GEORGIA. They once had a church named, "Miller Old Field" changed to "Cross Roads Baptist Church in 1880", due to fact it sat in MILLER'S old field. I'm almost sure we emailed before and if so, sorry but I didn't want to pass up a chance to get more on Mr Miller.
