He is gone but his files are still here. Lots of chatter about these files and there should be the work Andrea did was first rate for HIS DAY the 1940's with no puters and every bit had to be dug out in the local court house no state archives then either. So if you had family in SC do yourself a favor and view these files, view all your related files as well because there will be miscellaneous notes therein that just mught help you, He includes deeds and wills when he found them. What many people don't know is that the same sort of work was done in NC also by Mamie McKubbin; called the McKubbin files also on microfilm. These are available at the largest and best genealogical libraries, at all LDS Family History Centers i.e. your local Church of Latter Day Saints. Pass the word this is good stuff for genealogists everywhere that had family go thru the Carolinas. Charles

I'm really sorry that the site has shut down. It has been awhile since I have visited that site. I know another way to get you all data, so please be patient and I will contact my cousin and see if his site is ready. He has been working on it a long time. Sometimes it takes days for him to respond to me, so don't give up. I will be back! In the meantime, what Scotts are you hunting and I will be glad to help you. These are the greatest single source of information relative to our searches available anywhere. Anybody whose family went thru SC ought to see if ole Andrea did their family. Also less widely known are the McKubbin files same thing for NC. You are talking about the Caroliniana Library on campus there. The central desk on second floor is the place to ask.HOWEVER you don't have to go to Columbia to see the Andrea files. Anybody who has a Church of Latter Day Saints in their city can access these files. Go to the Family History Center at the church and ask for these files and they will get the portion you want and charge you maybe $1.75 or whatever it costs these days, but not a whole lot to borrow the file from Salt Lake City. Also if you have a really good genealogical library in your town e.g. the Washington Library in Macon GA, they have them too, all on microfilm. The Macon Library has the best reader/printers in business also. Not even your state nor federal archives has such good equipment. Which might be a subject you want to discuss with your congressman about the sorry state of microfilm readers in the national archives. I know the Nat Archives in East Point is notorious for having shoddy maintenance on their sorry [from the beginning] readers and they have no printers it all copy with a number 2 pencil. charles ----- Original Message ----- From: "Le Bateman" <LeBateman@NetZero.Net> To: <SCROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2001 3:49 PM Subject: [SC] Andrea Leonardo Files > Who would I contact at the Library of the University of South Carolina for > particular Folders in the Andrea Leonardo Files am looking to copy the > contents of Folder 1011, The Wyatt Wives. > Le > > > Shop online without a credit card > http://www.rocketcash.com > RocketCash, a NetZero subsidiary > > > ==== SCROOTS Mailing List ==== > SCRoots Query Board > http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/SCROOTS > > ============================== > Create a FREE family website at MyFamily.com! > http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=RWLIST2 > >

You are right,I'm sorry about the error, I was trying to help this lady get started on the right path, my memory betrayed me. I only knew the Dowey's from living in the same community and it's been many years since they lived here. I knew Betty was Steve's mother, I can't believe I made that big mistake. By-the-way, I live in the place Betty and Dan lived when they were first married.
Thanks for the <<filtering>>, Steve. Any help is appreciate. The Leonardo files are on file at the Mormon Library. Check where you live to see if they have a copy. They have one here in Charleston. Joy
