Hi Jason, Is it possible that this John Timmons is from the Irish Timmons line that is not in my TIMMONS line. The Irish line starts in SC with George Timmons son of Richard Timmons. Thomas, Richard and George (born in Ireland to a Quaker family), residing in St. Bartholomews Parish, Colleton County in the 1730's. By the way, do you have info on the TIMMONS buried behind St. Michaels in Charleston (George, William, Ann, and Isa??). Happy Heritage says that my TIMMONS line came from John TIMMINS who was a member of the Huguenot Church in Pons France. I have searched the register that exists ( 1648-1680) and haven't seen such a person, but he could have joined after 1680. The nearest I can find is Jean (French for John) SIMON/TIMON?, it looks like SIMON, but might be TIMON, father of Suzanne SIMON/TIMON who was baptised on 10 Dec 1665 at the age of 6. His occupation is listed as Marechal (translates to Marshall), which could any of several meanings. IF this is my ancestor (which I doubt), then it would be the father of the John TIMMINS mentioned in Happy Heritage. I doubt the TIMMINS spelling. What I do find in the area of Pons is a very few families with the name TIMON. I can see TIMON -> TIMONS -> TIMMONS in the same way that SIMON -> SIMONS -> SIMMONS was anglicized. Ray Timmons > Is this John Timmons/Temperance Stafford the progenitors of the Timmons' > of Clarendon/ Sumter County?

I have received lots of suggestions about how to find information on Francis Marion and some suggestions on finding Francis Marion Clark, Jr. Thanks to everyone. The one I am looking for was not the "Swamp Fox" -- Francis Marion. Mine was called the "Gray Fox" and his name was Francis Marion Clark. He would have lived some time around 1740 - 1790. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm still looking. Sandy In a message dated 1/16/2004 8:25:57 PM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Francis Marion was called "The Swamp Fox". Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CdB.2ACE/131 Message Board Post: I'm looking for somebody who might have transcribed this little cemetery, who has pictures of it and/or has any information on where the records might be. My husbands family has a baby buried here, she was buried in the 1960s. However, like alot of people they didn't have enough money for a tombstone. At some point, the Cemetery was "cleaned" and a new u-shaped road put through. In the process, the children's section has been all but distoried. The family wishes to place a tombstone at the babies grave. However, when we contacted the church in charge, St. Ann's Catholic Church, my mother-in-law was informed that the woman in charge of the records of that time had long since retired, and the records had been lost!! So, if anybody has any information, please let me know. Maybe somebody knows where the records are. Thanks a bunch, A hopeful Seeker
