What can you tell me about Murray's Ferry Plantation est 1830? It is near St. Stephen in Berkeley County or near there. Susan
Thanks for the response! I am helping a friend that is related to the Port family from Marion. I just happened to see the Ports Ferry sign on my way to Georgetown. Susan

I passed a sign that read, "Ports Ferry", on the Old River Road to Georgetown, SC. The sign was close to Kingsburg,SC, and not too far from Hemingway, SC. Anyone know which Port this ferry was named for? Thanks, Susan

Thank you for posting all these wonderful resources. I hope that the FHC has also a copy of these records so that I can order them up. We have practically nothing at the grassroots level for South Carolina. Just books by Holcomb and some county histories. But we do have the colonial and state land records on microfilm. Thank goodness for that. I am printing out this list to use as a checklist for my research.
