    3. In Oct. of 1886, John William Harley (b. 1858 in Columbia) m. Kate Alexander Morgan of Mississippi. They were m. in Yalobusha County, Miss. In Nov. of 1894 he m. Rebecca Adelle Fetner (b. 1859 in Columbia; dau. of Archibald Campbell Fetner II and Eliz. T. Harrison). She died in 1923 in Miss. He next married Rebecca's sister, Agnes, ca 1924. Agnes died in 1937. My question: How did Rebecca and Agnes get to Mississippi? Possibly with their brother Benjamin Franklin Fetner (d. 1930 in Miss.)? Does anyone know the back story on this migration? Also, does anyone know where Agnes is buried? The Johnson name was only used once the family came to Alabama. The Bennett name is connected only through Annie Thornton who named her DAUGHTER Martha Cummi Bennett. I have had DNA testing done from 2 members of this "Johnson" family at one of the most reputable DNA Labs in the Country. BOTH results came back "exact match" as the surname THORNTON. It is believed that William J. Thornton changed his name to Thomas William Johnson (b. 20 Sep 1861, d. 10 Oct 1942). The given sibling names that Thomas William Johnson told his sons are found under the Thornton name, and his father is listed in the Census' as Simeon Thornton, Appling County, Georgia. William J. Thornton is the son of Elder Simeon Thornton, he is the son of William Thornton, he is the son of Isaac Thornton, he is the son of Samuel Thornton (Revolutionary Soldier) b. 1755 Matthew's Bluff. We are descendants of LUKE Thornton who lived prior to Samuel. Current research has not documented this Luke/Samuel connection yet. In genealogy research, you should NEVER "assume" any info, it MUST be DOCUMENTED. Many researchers (both individual and PROFESSIONAL) are working diligently to Document the Luke/Samuel connection. There is NO DOUBT we are descended from Luke through Samuel Thornton. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
