Hi Linda, I think this was written during a time that our family lore has it my ggrandfather,Daniel Carter Stewart,had lost his land in Pickens SC.after mortgaging it and using the money to start up a saw mill that failed. He may have followed a son Eugene Stewart to Ala.for a new start,but did return to Pickens/Anderson co.SC This was a transition period for this Stewart family branch,when several of them were starting to leave farming and go to work in the textile mills in SC and other states. I will try to type you this letter,some of the words and spelling is hard to make out,but I will try. This letter was addressed to: Mr.Daniel Stewart Carter's Limestone co.Ala. The letterheading states: Piedmont SC. Nov.30th 1893 This is how the letter goes: Mr.Daniel Stewart Carter's Ala.
