Dear Grace, Don't worry about it, please. I've been called so many things that I actually answer to Doris, Gloria, etc. now! My 5th grade teacher, a lovely woman, called me "duh-low'-rees" for an entire year, and boy, the kids got some good laughs out of that! It seems that children will give anyone a tough time if they can figure a way! We tried to call out three simple names, and they still caught it. The oldest is Alex (for ALEXANDER, of course), and the kids all called him "Chip" in high school bec. of the last name PRINGLE. You can't win! I still wish I had one of those lovely old family names that I keep finding out there! I'll just keep on answering to most anything, and hope that not too many of my former students find me bec. I'm certain they called me things worse than any of the above! As one of them has told me, I was "tough as nails." I hope they learned something! Godspeed... Dolores M.
