    3. Winnie, Clorinda was my great great grandmother's niece. My gggrandmother was Rhoda Jean Riggins. The information that I have on Clorinda is that she was born in 1846 in South Carolina and died in Clarksville, Habersham County, GA. I also show that she married Jacob L. Stewart. The only thing that I have on Rebecca is her name and date of birth. Would love to have anything you are willing to share. I have all the information on Rhoda Jean down through my generation on her descendants. Have quite a bit of information on back through her father Powell Riggins and several generations back. None of that information has been confirmed by me, but will be happy to share what I have. Thanks, Linda winnie armour wrote: > Clorinda Riggins Stewart is a sister to my great great grandmother, Rebecca > Angeline Riggins Rice Stewart. 3. Rebecca Angeline Riggins was the daughter of Allen Alexander and Nancy Mary (Elgin) Riggins and grand daughter of Powell Riggins. I have not worked much on the Stewart family other than Anthony, but plan to do so in the future, because there are so many of the Stewarts' married into my lines which are Riggins, Rice, Alexander, Kennimore, Watson, etc. The decendants of Rebecca Angeline Riggins; Rebecca Angeline Riggins married 1st about 1861 to James Thomas Rice who was born on May 10, 1842 Pickins, SC and died prior to Dec. 19, 1862 in Chattanooga, Tenn. of Measles (War between The States) and was buried there. He was the son of Jordan and Emilia (Alexander) Rice. They had one daughter, Rebecca Adeline "Addie" Rice (Sept. 6, 1862 Pickins, SC - Aug. 18, 1935 Habersham County, Ga.). Addie married on April 3, 1891 to Wofford Grant Tomlin (Oct. 4, 1869 Habersham Co., Ga. - Aug. 9, 1942 Habersham Co., Ga.), son of William P. and Elizabeth (Perry) Tomlin. Their children: (1) Joseph Lester Tomlin (1892 - 1963) married Alice Southerland; (2) Lula A. Tomlin (1893 - 1921) married Thorough Nunnally; (3) Rebecca Emma Selina Tomlin (1895 - 1981) never married; (4) Ruth Aslee Tomlin (1897 - 1994) married Henry Herrington Burrell; (5) Nancy Amy Jane Tomlin (1898 - 1931) married Barney Seaborn Nix; (6) Infant Tomlin (b&d May 13, 1900); (7) Fannie Eliza Tomlin (1902 - 1940) married John Odus Mote (My Grandparents); (8) Flora Mae Tomlin (1907 - 1909). Addie and Wofford are buried at Hazel Creek Baptist Church as are their children except Lula A. who is buried at Harmony Baptist in Banks Co., Ga. and Ruth Aslee who is buried in Rabun Co., Ga. at the Little Tennessee River Baptist Church. Rebecca Angeline Riggins (Rice-Stewart) is also buried at Hazel Creek in unmarked grave. Rebecca Angeline Riggins Rice married 2nd about 1866 to Anthony Stewart (1847 Pickins, SC - 1929 Habersham or Stephens Co., Ga.), son of Robert and Elizabeth (Durham) Stewart. Anthony is buried at Antioch Baptist Church in Habersham Co., Ga. He was married 3 or 4 times and I still don't have this sorted out. I don't know if he and Rebecca divorced or was separated, but she was living with her daughter, Mary Catherine Stewart Wilbanks, when she died in 1898. She and Anthony had 8 children: (1) James Robinson Stewart (1867 Pickins, SC - 1954 Clarke Co., Ga) married Martha Mahulda E. Landers; (2) William T. Stewart (1868 Pickins, SC - 1949 Habersham Co., Ga.) married 1st Sarah S. Jones, 2nd Martha Vinson; (3) John Mark Stewart (1870 Pickins, SC - 1934 Habersham Co., Ga) married Martha Lou Tomlin (sister to Addie's husband, Wofford Grant); (4) Mary Catherine Stewart (1872 Pickins, SC - 1962 Habersham Co., Ga.) married William Felix Wilbanks; (5) Andrew J. Stewart (1874 Pickins, SC - 1930 Banks Co., Ga.) married Savilla Waldrip; (6) Allen T. Stewart (1875 Pickins, SC - ?) married 1st Carrie Chitwood, 2nd Florance Clark; (7) Elizabeth Angeline Stewart (1876 Pickins, SC - 1961 Banks Co., Ga.) married Logan P. Maxwell; (8) Margaret L. Stewart (1878 Pickins, SC - 1965 Stephens Co., Ga. buried in SC). Since I don't have all this info on my FTM yet, just ask for the info you want and if I have it I will send it to you. I would appreciate any info. on any of these families. As for Clorinda Riggins Stewart, she did not settle in Habersham County. I was told Anthony Stewart had a brother named "JAKE" short for Jacob, but have not been able to verify this. This Jake finally settled in Blue Ridge, Ga. after the War Between The States (This info. came from grandchildren of Anthony and Rebecca). I had thought this might be Clorinda's husband, but have not had the chance to check this out. Hope this helps, Winnie ----- Original Message ----- From: Larry & Linda Lamb <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, July 01, 2001 12:05 PM Subject: Re: [SCPICKENS] People listed in the Will of Powell Riggins > Winnie, > Clorinda was my great great grandmother's niece.
