I can't believe I'm actually corresponding with someone who knew him that well!!! I have Dorothy Roper Week's obituary from the Greenville News website. I have incorporated it into my family tree file. According to what I've discovered, my 3rd gr-grandfather, Abraham Lincoln "Linc" Masters was raised by Dice's parents (Ben "Blue Buck" Masters and Pamelia Patterson - I have a pic of their gravestone.). Dice's aunt on his father's side (Susan) was Linc's mother - but a married man and her half-uncle, Ephraim Cassell, was the father of Linc - so she gave him up to her brother to raise. (I also know a woman who has this family's Bible!!) A man named Olin Masters remembers Dice and Linc "hanging around" together and they claimed to be cousins (and they were 1st cousins!!). So, if you know ANYTHING about Linc or have pictures of Dice and Mamie or anyone in that branch of the Masters family, I sure would appreciate your letting me know!!
