He married Mary Malinda Lewis, dau. of James Lewis and Mary Stewart. James Madison Stewart was the son of Robert Stewart and Isabella Telford Stewart. I suspect that James Mattison Stewart b.1851 was too young to serve between 1861-1865, but not impossible.
