Melissa, Thanks a million for the information on the Durhams. I had in my notes that James Durham was born in 1829 and maybe it should have been 1849. Anyway, my wife is happy to get the info. Ronnie, When looking for records for the DURHAM family, don't forget to check the DERHAM spelling as well. It's also important to check the original records when possible. I have a copy of the original p.175b of the1860 Pickens Co., SC census and Frances SIZEMORE is listed as M not W as shown on the online version. http://www.scgenealogy.com/pickens/records/census/1860/pg0171b.txt 4 1054 1031 SIZEMORE Frances 40 F W None . 15 Pickens SC Joy
Melissa, Hi. I'm still digging for information on James H.C. Durham. I found his grave in Belton, Anderson County, SC. He is buried in the Belton Cemetery. His tombstone reads: J.H.C. Durham, born 5 April 1849 and died 18 Dec. 1918. I have ruled out William R. Durham as his father. William's son James Durham died in 1921 and is buried at Six Mile Baptist Church with his wife. I believe my James H.C. Durham may be a son of a Jefferson and Matilda Durham of Greenville, SC and later Hall County, Georgia. This family can be found on the 1860 census of Fork Shoals Division, Greenville District. Jefferson Durham, age 50, SC, farmer Matilda, age 35, SC, housekeeper Elizabeth, 16, SC, seamstress Jane, 14, SC James, 12, SC William, 8, SC Harriet, 3, SC On the 1870 Georgia census, James isn't listed with Jefferson's family. Jefferson's son William Henry Durham later had a son named James H. Durham. James H.C. Durham on the 1910 census of SC seems to have a son named William H. Durham. Are William Henry Durham and James H. C. Durham brothers?
