Dolores, Thanks for posting that--it may turn out to be a lead! I descend from John Marlin Chapman and his second wife Nancy. We think her maiden name was Pulliam. John was b. ca. 1770 and settled in the Eastatoe area of Pickens Co. Nancy was b. ca. 1800, and d. 1850. John died 2 weeks before she did due to a fall. Their son, Josiah Chapman sr and his wife Malinda Turner were my gtgt grandparents. All these are bd. at McKinney Chapel near Sunset. Am also looking for parents of Malinda Turner--his name was Pick Turner (1810--1880) and settled around Pickens. I was just told by cousins there that Pick was full-blooded Portuguese, and that his wife was full Cherokee. How could he have the name Turner, then? John M. Chapman was supposed to be son of Joseph Chapman 1745-1836, b. in Halifax, Va. Any help very appreciated!
