    1. [SCPICKENS] Old Homestead on the Tugaloo River
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. In 1822 Almon Powell purchased 300 acres from Richard Holden on Tugaloo River in Pendleton District. This area became Pickens County. Then in 1835 he purchased additional land along Brasstown Road in two different places along the above mentioned 300 acres. There is record of their homestead being on this property. I have never been able to find the burial place of Almon and his wife Elizabeth Powell. My question is, are there any old homesteads along the Tugaloo River which could be this old? I am wondering if there are family grave yards that have not been surveyed.. Almon Powell died in Horse Shoe, Pickens Co., SC 1857 and Elizabeth died between 1860 and 1970. Kathleen Burnett
