Hi Dana! Pamela Patterson Masters was my gg-aunt. I am out of her sister, Eveline Patterson Chappell, my g-grandmother. Another Patterson, Asa, JR married Ben Masters sister, Catherine. Do you or anyone have a date of death/place of burial for Dice? I only have limited information on this line. I, too, would like to see pics of this line to see if Pamela looked like her siblings, who looked just like Indians. I do have Pam and Ben's gravestone pics also. Patricia A. Hello all - Does anyone know where I could find the above documents.? In 1860, there was a page "dedicated to the memory" of my 4g-grandfather, Rev. Gideon Ellis, Sr., per the Tribuite from the SCA article I recieved today. I would like to see if such a page does exists and would also be curious to see if there are any of Gideon's writings in previous editions. Thanks much, Dave Jones

I didn't know there was a reunion there!! I've only been a Masters for a couple of years. I was adopted!!! I've met my birth mother and her family and my birth father and some of his family. So, I'm researching my birth father's side at the moment. I've only been to 1 Masters reunion and that was this past September at Table Rock. It's odd that these people did not know the name of Ben "Blue Buck" Masters. According to what I've heard, Ben and his wife lived at Table Rock and he got his nickname from the blue mountain fields that he farmed at Table Rock. BUT - that's pure hearsay, so I'm not sure if it's true or not. If you can shed some light on this family for me, I certainly would appreciate it. Ben and Pamelia raised my 3rd gr-grandfather and Dice was his first cousin. Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing from you soon! -Dana

I can't believe I'm actually corresponding with someone who knew him that well!!! I have Dorothy Roper Week's obituary from the Greenville News website. I have incorporated it into my family tree file. According to what I've discovered, my 3rd gr-grandfather, Abraham Lincoln "Linc" Masters was raised by Dice's parents (Ben "Blue Buck" Masters and Pamelia Patterson - I have a pic of their gravestone.). Dice's aunt on his father's side (Susan) was Linc's mother - but a married man and her half-uncle, Ephraim Cassell, was the father of Linc - so she gave him up to her brother to raise. (I also know a woman who has this family's Bible!!) A man named Olin Masters remembers Dice and Linc "hanging around" together and they claimed to be cousins (and they were 1st cousins!!). So, if you know ANYTHING about Linc or have pictures of Dice and Mamie or anyone in that branch of the Masters family, I sure would appreciate your letting me know!! And thanks again for the help!!! -Dana

Angela, I think that you may want to print this out, draw some arrows here and there to help you follow some of these families from 1850-1880. James H. C. DURHAM appears to be the son of William R. & Elizabeth R. DURHAM. Apparently Margaret MCWHORTER married John MCKINNEY first and she was a dau of Jane MCWHORTER, b. Durham, born ca. 1829 Hi, I haven't had any luck finding anything about this man. Maybe someone on the list has heard of him. His name is J.H.C. (or G) Durham. He was born in Pickens District, SC about 1829. He was married to Margaret Ann Elizabeth McWhorter (1833-1894). They had at least 2 daughters Irene (1868) and Rosie Adelah Durham (1870-1919). Any help appreciated with this family. Melissa, Thanks a million for the information on the Durhams. I had in my notes that James Durham was born in 1829 and maybe it should have been 1849. Anyway, my wife is happy to get the info.
