    3. Dear List Members, It is that time of year when some of you will be leaving on Vacations. You might want to consider unsubscribing from the list while you are gone and then resubscribing when you return. The easiest way to do this is by using Password Central. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will receive a e-mail list of all Rootsweb Mailing Lists you belong to. You can unsubscribe using this e-mail. Save it and you then have a list of mailing lists you want to re-subscribe to. When you return, you can check the Archives for this list at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Just type in the name of the list and you can check the messages for the dates you were gone. The following was shared with me and I think it is one of the best Maps I have seen showing the growth and history of the United States. http://www.animatedatlas.com/movie.html I appreciate each of you and know that it is because of you our list is the success it is. 1. [SCPICKENS] A plea for your records from the SCGenealogy.com webmeister...
    2. Howdy all! I've been working on the site again (for those that are new http://www.scgenealogy.com/pickens ) and noticed that we haven't had anything sent in for several catagories. I know ya'll have some records of your family that could be posted. :) Q & A... QUESTION: Why should I send stuff in? ANSWER: There are actually several great answers for this question! First, the more you send in, the better your chances are for hooking up with other researchers who you can share information with. The internet is a great tool for genealogy research but if people don't know where you are, they can't share! I have figued out more confusing lines since the site started that I ever would have by just doing nothing.. plus, I've heard lots of great sucess stories that happened because people connected from the site! Second, it helps other researchers... SCGenealogy.com is FREE - I pay the costs yearly to keep the site up, and it ain't cheap LOL ... I do it so I can share with others, give back to all those that have helped me in the past! Lastly, the site is nothing with out the help of all those who contribute! Ya'll are the ones that fill the site with wonderful information for others! QUESTION: Is my stuff safe if I send it to you? Do I keep my copyright? ANSWER: Yes, if you transcribed something and you ever want me to remove it, I will. I do protect it as best I can - I don't sell, rent, or loan out your stuff, never will. (The site was founded to keep the records FREE for you to view) If you put it on the site its YOURS ... period. QUESTION: What kind of things should I send in? ANSWER: Well the things you can send in are; Bible Records, Biographies, Cemetery Records & Photos, Census (its ok if you have only transcribed your family - I'll still post it for you) Church records & histories, Death/Obits, Links to your family site or another site that would be helpful to researchers, Land/Deed, Marriage, Military, Newspaper records, Obituaries, Photographs, Old Maps, Directions to places of interest, School Records & photos, and just about anything you can think of that is history and or genealogy related! If you have a book out, you can send the index in - this helps researchers and increases the book sales! QUESTION: Are you nit picky about how I send files in? (In other words, are you gonna gripe at me ...) ANSWER: Nope. If you send it, I get it posted. QUESTION: Ok, ok, you convinced me, I want to send you some stuff. How do I go about this? ANSWER: That's the easy part! Attach it to an email (to howdycuzin@aol.com) It doesn't matter what format you send it in, I'll get it open and posted :) I hope I have inspired ya'll to submit your files to the site! (and a big thank you to those who already do!) Stop by and see us! Warmest Regards, Traci R. Parsons-Holder (your humble webmeister)
