    1. [SCPICKENS] JONES, Samuel and Lydia
    2. Dolores Miller Pringle
    3. Does anyone know anything about a Samuel JONES (age 77, b. SC), wife Lydia (age 80, b. VA), in the 1850 census for Pickens Co.? In 1840 there is a Samuel JONES who may be this same one but he is in Spartanburg Co., SC. Feom what I can determine, they were in the Dacusville area of Pickens Co. in this 1850 census. In 1850 there is an Elizabeth JACKSON, age 44, w/Leander (son?), living next to them, and then, next to her is a William JONES, age 40, w/wife and child. I think Elizabeth may have been a dau of Samuel JONES and William may be their son. If this is the correct Samuel JONES, he may also have sons Francis and Leander JONES. I have a Rachel Rebecca JONES whose parents I am searching for. This Rebecca md. Stephen Perry MARCHBANKS. Rebecca said that her father was born in SC, and her mother was born in VA. For this and several other reasons, I am trying to decide if this Samuel and Lydia JONES may be the parents of Rebecca. Any help is greatly appreciated! This family has been a major stumbling block for me. God bless, Dolores

    2. Dear Paul, I was wondering if you or anyone have ever heard about the "Turner Hill Cemetery". It is located in Pickens County. These are my ancestors and I have visited the cemetery once Jan. 2002. I do have a couple of pictures, my film ran out or I would have taken more. I need to find the cemetery again and take more pictures. If you would like I can send you the pictures that I have so they can be posted on the Pickens Web-site, also when I go back I can pinpoint the location with my GPS unit. Please let me know what I can do to get this cemetery listed on the site, it was in terrible shape and needs to be cleaned up. 3. David is right. Lake Hartwell water level at full pool is 660 feet above Mean Sea Level (MSN). Therefore any land on any stream that shares water with what is now Lake Hartwell, which is below 660 feet altitude (or MSN), is covered by lake waters when it is full. Allen David S. 2. Sloan Crayton
    3. Lake Hartwell affected both GA & SC. The graves of David Sloan and family had to be moved. Their homesite, settled after the Revolution, is under water. Fortunately, a descendant, took pictures of the old home in the 1930s when he raised money among descendants to clean up the family graveyard. So the original tombstone was moved to the new site. His wife, Susannah Majors Sloan's, tombstone had to be replaced with a newer one. If I could locate the homestead or figure out where it was then I would have a better idea. Why do you ask about it being under water. Did something happen that changed the water course of the river?
