I show a Joel Reece Jones who married Vashti Roper. Vashti was the daughter of Tyre Roper and Malinda Edens. She was born in 1848 -- I don't know when her husband was born or if they had any children. Maybe Joel Reece could have been a son of the earlier mentioned Joel? (Vashti was my 2nd great-aunt -- I am a descendant of Tyre Roper's son, Elijah.) I am sorry that I don't know more abt them, but my GGG-G'mother was Rachel Rebecca JONES, b. 1808, Spartanburg Dist., SC. There were several Samuel JONES in Sptg. at that time, and I'm trying to find her father. I've been told that a Samuel JONES was her father, but it's not the one that folks have thought it was. Rebecca moved to Greenville Dist., SC, w/her husband by 1840. There was a Leander JONES who was in the area both in Sptg. and in G'ville - near where she was. Then this Samuel JONES popped up in Pickens Dist., also nearby, and has a grandson named Leander. I'd say there is a large chance that they all connect somewhere. The big question for us remains - where do they connect???? Please let me know if you find anything. Oh, yes, Rebecca said in several censuses that her mother was born in VA, and Leander said the same. Also, one Francis JONES, male, said his mother was b.VA. The Samuel JONES in Pickens Dist. was married to Lydia STEVENSON, and she said she was born in VA. Lots of VA folks there, don't you think? Thank, Herman, but there was an earlier Leander who would be the age to be a child of Samuel and Lydia, and then this younger Leander. I thought it might mean that this Leander older Leander was the child of Samuel and Lydia. I am desperately trying to find someone who would be the parents of my Rachel Rebecca JONES MARCHBANKS. Hi! I am looking for any information on a John Winters, Senr. who was living in Pickens District in 1830. There are 2 John Winter's listed in the Pendleton District census for 1820 and 1 in the 1810. A court document has come my way with the arrest of John Winters, Senr. for assault against Elizabeth Boren on 20 October 1830 in Pickens District. Three days later, on 23 October 1830, John Boren put up an appearance bond for his wife Elizabeth to appear at the March Term 1831 court session. In the March 1831 court, a No Bill was given and the charges thrown out. I have found a John Winters married to an Elizabeth Bowen about 1824 while searching the internet. I am supposing this to be John Winters, Junr. Since the senior John Winters was married to a Mary, and John Boren puts up the recognizance bond, could this possibly be Elizabeth Boren that may have been divorced from John Winters? The Boren and Bowen surnames are often interchanged in later records of Pickens District/County. My interest in all of this is the Boren line that I am researching in Pendleton/Pickens District. There are many Boren's there that seem to be related in some way, but I cannot for the life of me connect them all. Does anyone have any information on the Winter family from this area? If so, please email me at: pacant1104@yahoo.com Thanks!! Patricia Cantrell Columbus, GA pacant1104@yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo!
