    3. Dolores, Thanks for the update-stay off those feet girl! Good to hear your son is coming to Clemson.. Sorry about the other bouts with the Big C.. What did you mean the "old" town of Pickens is gone? where'd it go? or are you referring to Pickensville? We got gullywashers here in the upstate yesterday.. Thanks to the good Lord.. 1. [SCPICKENS] UPDATE on MILLER-PRINGLE family
    2. DMPringle
    3. I know this is a bit off-topic, but most of you know that I'm having all kinds of things happening at once, so this is a short update. My M-I-L is 89 and has ovarian cancer; the drs. have decided no chemo which we feel is best. She only complains abt her arthritic arm! Quite a character! My father, who lives in Easley, has bladder cancer - the same type that most lung cancers come from. He is having a mild form of chemo (age 78) and had the 1st treatment on Thurs. and will continue for 6 wks. Then the dr. will go back and look to decide the next steps. He has felt pretty rough and had some fever, but not nearly as bad as it could have been with that first round. My drs. won't let me travel at the moment. My back is quite a bit worse, and I seem to be losing the feeling in the rt. leg. Already lost the left one. They tell me more surgery or I will be in leg braces fr. the permanent damage. So, more lower back surgery in Sept. if Grandmama and Daddy are OK. I'm coming to Easley on 6/15 even if I have to ride in an ambulance. I need some time with my parents (I'm an only), and I plan to do some research. I hope I'll get the chance to meet a couple of you while I'm up there next time! Oh, yes, my youngest got accepted today at Clemson; he's transferring fr. Coastal Carolina "back home." My children grew up in Clemson so we are delighted about that!!!! I apologize for the topic, but several folks had asked. Oh, yes, the heavy rains just hit MB and it's 10:00 PM, Friday. 3. Traci, Clayton is in Rabun County about 27 miles from Westminster, SC. From Westminster you travel US 76-West through Long Creek, across the Chattooga River and 7 more miles into Clayton. Rabun County adjoins Stephens County and Habersham County, Georgia. we are about 60 miles from Anderson, SC and about the same distance from Gainesville, Ga. Do you plan to be in any of these counties? 3. how many David B Finney's could there have been? I'll look in the cemetery books and see if he's in there. If the date is wrong I might still get a obit for you at least. If they might have lived in the city (VBG) of Pickens it does make it somewhat easier to look at. I fully intend to get there tomorrow and utilize my kidless/hubbyless time.. Sandy -----Original Message----- From: Patricia Schiro <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Friday, June 01, 2001 9:22 PM Subject: Re: [SCPICKENS] DAVID BRANCH FINNEY Sandy, I have no idea what area they lived in, I believe it was in the city of Pickens. A young man from California recently contacted me and said his wife was descended from a David Branch Finney, and this family had lived in Pickens, SC. He did not think it was the same family line as mine, but it is ....They didnot have much information but he told me that after David Branch Finney Sr. died in 1913, Cansada married a Ben Culbertson and maybe a man named Simmons aswell.. David B. Finney's death date was recorded in the Pickens cemetery records as being October 5, 1923.. Buried in New Kings Grove Church Cemetery. So... I do not know if he died in 1913 or 1923...If he died in 1913 she was probably already remarried by 1920.. I'm so very greatful for your help.. 3. Sandy, as far as I can tell there were three but there may be four. Sr., Jr., III & IV... I find , Sr born 1848, this is the one we are discussing , than Jr. was born about 1900 and he had a son, III born about 1939, so I have been told. I believe they were the only Finney family in Pickens, so anyone you find would be kin.. Good Luck in your research for your family.. 3. Sandy, I have no idea what area they lived in, I believe it was in the city of Pickens.
