    1. [SCPICKENS] Old Pendleton Co. deeds
    2. Wilma C. Kirkland
    3. Bonnie, You might try the Anderson Co. Library. The have the deeds on film, but do not have the index, which has to come from the courthouse. So if you know the book and page number, you can probably get it from the library , perhaps for a small fee. However, they have a brand new library, so perhaps they have gotten a copy of the index film by now. Check it out. These old deeds are extremely hard to read and some of the page numbers do not even show up on the filmed page. The Archives have to go by the frame numbers. I just had some copied from the SCDAH and some of the tops and bottoms of the pages are so black I can hardly read them. In fact, I can't in some places. Wilma C. Kirkland

    3. Probably would have to get a copy from the Pendleton/Anderson County records in the SC Department of Archives and History. I understand that a lot of the older records were sent to the Archives when Anderson moved into their new courthouse several years ago. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bonnie Reach <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2001 12:15 PM Subject: [SCPICKENS] Getting copy of deed > Could someone please send either a website for Pickins Co., or the address > and price to get a copy of an 1802 deed for old Pendleton District. We have an obit for my great grandmother, Emma SMITH CORBIN. Emma died 18 JUN 1953. The obit from The Pickens Sentinel says: "She was a daughter of the late George and Susanne Cooper Smith, residents of Anderson County. Mrs. Corbin was born in Anderson County, but had spent most of her life in Pickens County, having resided in the Cedar Rock community for the past 34 years." We have no other information about her parents at this time. Does this tie to something you have? Thank you.

    3. Bonnie, the LDS has the Pendleton records on microfilm which you can "rent" at a Family History Center. You would need to know which Book/Roll your deed was in. ...unless you need a certified copy, of course.
