    1. [SCPICKENS] Jesse PRINCE,b.1832 d.1865
    2. Hi At a Brookshire family reunion Sunday,I saw a copy of an original handwritten document,by an attorney,on behalf of the plantiff,Elizabeth Prince, concerning land left by Charles Prince when he died in Dec 1892. The document listed the defendants as: Rebecca Chumbler (this may be Rebecca Prince, also a sister to Charles Prince ? ). and a predeceased brother's children, listed as Ida (Prince) Massingale,Ella (Prince) Brookshire and Foreman Mauldin Prince. These are the children of Jesse Prince b.1832 d.1865 (Union prision camp, bur.in Louisville,KY.) m.Eleanora "Nellie" Kelly b.Dec.13 1836 d.May 21 1917 bur.Mt.Zion cem.Central,Pickens co.SC. This is the first documented proof that I have seen that Jesse Prince was a brother to Charles Prince. This document was found in the home of the family that Lou Ella Prince Brookshire lived with before her death. These Prince families were in the Twelve Mile area on or near Rice's or Reece's mountain. Does anyone have information to share on these families. Thanks for any help Gay

    3. Hi everybody.. just getting back online after a great thunderstorm.. lots of wind-lightning and much needed rain.. I'd gotten this page Saturday from the 1840 census for Pickens and thought I'd share the names listed on it. It lists only the heads of household and the # of males, females. There are 2 pages but I only got the names.. If you see a name I might can get back to it.. It also listed slaves on the 2nd half as well as schooling but no previous states or birth states.. A + sign indicates the possibility of older females that dropped of the copy.. consider that for all names.. I can only see up to the 30-40 years old bracket. Heads of Household MALES FEMALE William Whitmire 3 5 + John Lydy 2 1 Abram Lydy 1 2 Catherine Wallace 1 2 John Ritche 1 1 Fountain McKinney (spell?) 1 Elias Lootes (lootis) 1 2 Daniel Alexander 4 3 Charles S. 3. 1850 Western Division, Pickens Co., SC, does not list any FREEMANS at all. In the Eastern Division there are three households and they are close together. Two female FRANCES's, one 27 and a widow, the other a 4 yr. old child. Can I look up anything else for you? Sorry this wasn't much help! I am fairly certain that Adeline was my grandmother's half sister and was married to Joseph Stepp. They never had children and died and are buried in Transylvania Co NC. I have nothing on Martha Henderson. My grandmother was Julia Alice Searcy Manly; her mother Mary Ann Moody. I have not found Mary Ann Moody anywhere, possibly Buncombe Co NC, but I have not had time to search. I visited my cousin last week in Travelers Rest, near Greer, but was on a tight time schedule.

Most index books are also too big for the copiers so unless you want to hand write them, this is a great investment. I really swear by mine... and its not much bigger than a camera.. Hugs, Traci
