Thanks, Mary, for the lookup on "F. Freeman". I had totally missed it. Not sure if it really is Francis, but it's a Pickens Co. Freeman family I want to account for. Alice Freeman Hills

I originally did this for the people in the Oconee list, but I thought that since it was so close to Pickens... I work at Oconee Nuclear Station and there is a small grave yard above the Complex entrance that most people don't know about. I wrote down all tombstones that I could read...most of the graves were marked with only a stone, no inscription. Those that had an inscription were the older type of cheap stone and at least 80-100 years old. Here is what I found for those interested. Infant Son of Mack and Eva Jenkins Born & Died Aug 3, 1919 Asleep in Jesus ********************************* (Another) Infant Son of Mack and Eva Jenkins Born & Died June 26, 1927 Gone But Not Forgotten ********************************* Mackie Jr., son of Mack and Eva Jenkins Born Jan 1, 1918 Died Jan 8, 1918 At Rest ********************************* Mattie, Wife of Sam Little Died Feb 26, 1929 Age 36 Years Faithful To Her Trust Even Unto Death ********************************** W.R. Jane, Have you gotten this info yet? If not, write me and I will look further. Your John McCOMBS is not in the first 20 pgs of the Easley Township, but that is the beginning of the area that appears to be the families near the Rock Springs Church. I simply know this bec. my father grew up very near there, and his parents are at Rock Springs also as well as other families I know. Let me know if you want me to look further. Godspeed... I can't find him .. I checked number 117 in Easley, Dacusville, Eastatoe, Liberty and Central and he is not there.. can anyone offer any help or suggestons? He was married to a Mary J Davidson and had children Margaret, Nancy R., Wm and James in 1880. John is buried at Rock Springs Baptist in Easley SC.. He was in the 1840 Census of Pickens Dist with 1 male (20-30), 2 males (10-15). 1 male (5-10), 1 female (5-10), 1 female (20-30). >> In the 1850 census transcription published by the Old Pendleton Genealogical Society, there is an F. Freeman, age 43, listed in the Eastern Division. Living in the same household were Arnes (?), female, age 43; John T., age 21; Benjamin, age 17; Malinda, age 16; Henry W., age 9; and Robert, age one month. There was also a Nancy Brewer, age 17, living in the same household. Dolores said there weren't any Freemans in the Western Division, so I thought this might be worth taking a look at even though this household was in the Eastern Division of Pickens District. Mary Hope Villela
Doris, I was surprised that he didn't appear in the 1850 census. I'm working from Linda Cheek's transcription of the 1860 Census of Pickens District. Five of the men who bought at Francis Freeman's estate sale, Zadock Skelton, Isaac P. Poole, Martin Moss, John Ross, and John L. Fleming, all farmers like Francis, lived side by side in Cherokee Post Office district. (No Mrs. Freeman head of household listed in this area in 1860.) My thinking was that if these men were neighbors in 1860, they would have been neighbors to Francis Freeman in 1856. I'm looking at pages 26 and 27 in Linda's book, the 1860 census. I found some others in Pickens Court House Post Office. Thank you! Alice Freeman Hills [email protected]
