Clorinda Riggins Stewart is a sister to my great great grandmother, Rebecca Angeline Riggins Rice Stewart. Rebecca married 1st, James Thomas Rice, and had one child, Rebecca Adeline Rice who married Wofford Grant Tomlin (my great grandparents). James Thomas Rice died of Measles in Chattoonooga, Tenn. (in the War Between The States) prior to Dec. 1862 and never got to see his daughter who was born in Sept. 1862. Rebecca Riggins Rice then married Anthony Stewart. I have looked for Clorinda for quite a while. I know she came to Ga. also, and have heard she went to Calif. Would love to trade some info. on these sisters. I don't have the names listed below in my files, as family members, as I don't know where they belong. I am very interested in what you have on the Pelzer Cemetery. My husband's Mother's side of the family is burried in this Cemetery. The names of some are; William John Reese and Elizabeth Teague, Reese (Great Grandparent's), Ernest Horace Reese and Ethel Littleton, Reese (Grandparent's), James King Sol. Teague and Hester Head, Teague (GGGrandparents). Elizabeth Teague, Reese had two brothers; 1. John Franklin Teague who m. Eva Batson, their children are: Ellen, Dorris, Grady and Harold. Harold Teague drowned when he was in his late teens or early 20's. 2. Marshall Teague, history unknown. There are a lot of the Teague family there, but my husband was last there when he was a boy and doesn't remember names and dates. His Mother was a Reese and she m. Eugene Schroeder in Pelzer, SC, Anderson Co. Some of the names in this family are: Teague, Reese, Batson, Littleton, Hightower, Head, Hendrix and some others. I do not have any information for this side of the family except for w! hat I was told. If any of this helps, great. Feel free to e-mail me at Berryglen [email protected] I will try to help.
Lorene, I forgot to mention that I have a Rebecca R Riggins who is also a daughter of Allen Alexander Riggins. I do not have a spouse listed for her, but show that she was born in 1843. Was the Anthony Stewart you mentioned a brother to Jacob L.? Maybe they married sisters. Just a thought. Linda > > Mine is Jacob L. Stewart, b. 1856; m. Clorinda Riggens, b. 1846. Lorene, The only other Stewart I have listed in my files is Jacob L.'s father who was William Maxwell Stewart and mother Emily Parsons, but then again I do not have half the spouses for the Riggins children, or grandchildren. Sounds to me like you might have the names of people who bought from the sale of some of his personal property. A lot of the names you had listed has been on some of the wills and probate records of my ancestors. Traci, Could you alter my entry for the family page? The description is kind of funny. Just include that I have old FERGUSON pictures at my site. Also, I research FERGUSON, REID, SHERIFF, and POSEY in Pickens. Thanks and it looks great, Bonnie PS - under the section for looking up the living, I have found www.anybirthday.com invaluable in finding birthdays of the living.
Hi Janice, Lorene and all, I was planning on typing up this will and list it, but parts of it I can not make out at all. I would hate to leave anything out. That would probably be the part that someone else would need. I thought by posting the names that was listed would tie in with some of the in laws or grandchildren. It tells that this one was left a sow and the next one was left a bore and one was left a pair of jeans. It is so odd that everything was listed in such detail. Lorene, you mentioned Stewart, I find a Jacob L. Stewart( is this Jacob Lewis Stewart, or is your's just named Jacob Lewis?) who married Clorinda Riggins. Clorinda was a grand daughter of Powell Riggins. Clorinda's father was Allen Alexander Riggins. Hope this helps, Linda Janice Mauldin Castleman wrote: > Hi, > > While I don't have the name - Powell RIGGINS - in my husband's tree, I can tell you that the Robert GAINES listed was probably my hubby's 3rd great-grandfather (who married Frances FEATHERSTONE).
