    1. [SCPICKENS] Baptist Churchs in Pickens County
    2. Tom Krakow
    3. Hi List, Yes! There are two ways to get the microfilm copies of the Cross Road Baptist Church. They are available from the LDS folks for $ 3.50 for use at a Family History Center. Furman also has them available by ILL for free. You can check on which films they have for loan by checking the following web site. http://library.furman.edu/depts/speccoll/churchrecs.htm Furman does not charge anything for ILL. Your local library may. Furman is a wonderful resource. Check it out. Tom in Chapel Hill ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 1. [SCPICKENS] Re: Prathor, O'Bryant SC>GA
    2. Do you know the parents of Harrison O'Bryant? My father in law was named Willis O'Bryant but he married his first wife at age 22 in OK. I thought that maybe your G-grandparents could have been sibbling of his father Samuel N. O'Bryant born in 1835. in AL. Seems that names went down the line in our side like James, Samuel,Newton etc.If you think we might have a connection let me hear from you

    1. Re: [SCPICKENS] People listed in the Will of Powell Riggins
    2. winnie armour
    3. Rebecca Angeline Riggins was the daughter of Allen Alexander and Nancy Mary (Elgin) Riggins and grand daughter of Powell Riggins. I have not worked much on the Stewart family other than Anthony, but plan to do so in the future, because there are so many of the Stewarts' married into my lines which are Riggins, Rice, Alexander, Kennimore, Watson, etc. The decendants of Rebecca Angeline Riggins; Rebecca Angeline Riggins married 1st about 1861 to James Thomas Rice who was born on May 10, 1842 Pickins, SC and died prior to Dec. 19, 1862 in Chattanooga, Tenn. of Measles (War between The States) and was buried there. He was the son of Jordan and Emilia (Alexander) Rice. They had one daughter, Rebecca Adeline "Addie" Rice (Sept. 6, 1862 Pickins, SC - Aug. 18, 1935 Habersham County, Ga.). Addie married on April 3, 1891 to Wofford Grant Tomlin (Oct. 4, 1869 Habersham Co., Ga. - Aug. 9, 1942 Habersham Co., Ga.), son of William P. and Elizabeth (Perry) Tomlin. Their children: (1) Joseph Lester Tomlin (1892 - 1963) married Alice Southerland; (2) Lula A. Tomlin (1893 - 1921) married Thorough Nunnally; (3) Rebecca Emma Selina Tomlin (1895 - 1981) never married; (4) Ruth Aslee Tomlin (1897 - 1994) married Henry Herrington Burrell; (5) Nancy Amy Jane Tomlin (1898 - 1931) married Barney Seaborn Nix; (6) Infant Tomlin (b&d May 13, 1900); (7) Fannie Eliza Tomlin (1902 - 1940) married John Odus Mote (My Grandparents); (8) Flora Mae Tomlin (1907 - 1909). Addie and Wofford are buried at Hazel Creek Baptist Church as are their children except Lula A. who is buried at Harmony Baptist in Banks Co., Ga. and Ruth Aslee who is buried in Rabun Co., Ga. at the Little Tennessee River Baptist Church. Rebecca Angeline Riggins (Rice-Stewart) is also buried at Hazel Creek in unmarked grave. Rebecca Angeline Riggins Rice married 2nd about 1866 to Anthony Stewart (1847 Pickins, SC - 1929 Habersham or Stephens Co., Ga.), son of Robert and Elizabeth (Durham) Stewart. Anthony is buried at Antioch Baptist Church in Habersham Co., Ga. He was married 3 or 4 times and I still don't have this sorted out. I don't know if he and Rebecca divorced or was separated, but she was living with her daughter, Mary Catherine Stewart Wilbanks, when she died in 1898. She and Anthony had 8 children: (1) James Robinson Stewart (1867 Pickins, SC - 1954 Clarke Co., Ga) married Martha Mahulda E. Landers; (2) William T. Stewart (1868 Pickins, SC - 1949 Habersham Co., Ga.) married 1st Sarah S. Jones, 2nd Martha Vinson; (3) John Mark Stewart (1870 Pickins, SC - 1934 Habersham Co., Ga) married Martha Lou Tomlin (sister to Addie's husband, Wofford Grant); (4) Mary Catherine Stewart (1872 Pickins, SC - 1962 Habersham Co., Ga.) married William Felix Wilbanks; (5) Andrew J. Stewart (1874 Pickins, SC - 1930 Banks Co., Ga.) married Savilla Waldrip; (6) Allen T. Stewart (1875 Pickins, SC - ?) married 1st Carrie Chitwood, 2nd Florance Clark; (7) Elizabeth Angeline Stewart (1876 Pickins, SC - 1961 Banks Co., Ga.) married Logan P. Maxwell; (8) Margaret L. Stewart (1878 Pickins, SC - 1965 Stephens Co., Ga. buried in SC). Since I don't have all this info on my FTM yet, just ask for the info you want and if I have it I will send it to you. I would appreciate any info. on any of these families. As for Clorinda Riggins Stewart, she did not settle in Habersham County. I was told Anthony Stewart had a brother named "JAKE" short for Jacob, but have not been able to verify this. This Jake finally settled in Blue Ridge, Ga. after the War Between The States (This info. came from grandchildren of Anthony and Rebecca). I had thought this might be Clorinda's husband, but have not had the chance to check this out. Hope this helps, Winnie ----- Original Message ----- From: Larry & Linda Lamb <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, July 01, 2001 12:05 PM Subject: Re: [SCPICKENS] People listed in the Will of Powell Riggins > Winnie, > Clorinda was my great great grandmother's niece. 3. Marti, I got an email purporting to have come from you which contained an attached infected file called CFGWIZ32.EXE. Do you have Norton Anti-Virus protection? If not, you need to get it pronto. If you do have it, you need to scan the files on your drive. These files contain worms which send out messages to people on your mailing list without you even being aware of it. Thought I'd best let you know so you can take appropriate action. 3. Hi, This is in response to the postings regarding the Cross Road(s) Baptist Church. I currently have on loan, the microfilmed records of this church. They are available from Furman University via ILL. The records start in 1838, and go up to 1966. I just today read the section listings all church members as of 1843. Sometimes there is a note of when the person joined the church, when they left (transferred), or when they died. There are also occasional notes mentioning people getting baptized. I highly recommend this film to anyone who has ancestors that attended that church. Maybe the cemetery records burned, but both the monthly meeting records and membership lists are all extant. 1. [SCPICKENS] FROM LIST MOM 2nd Quarterly Report for 2001
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, Here it is the end June and time for the Second Quarterly Report for 2001. Can you believe how fast the time has passed? This one almost passed me by. The SCPICKEN Mailing List has 225 members, 153 on the Regular list and there are 72 members on the Digest List. As most of you know by now, the GenConnect Boards have changed. Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com are continuing their merger and now have merged the GenConnect Boards. I am not sure of my feeling regarding this yet, but will watch it and let you know. I am not one to jump to conclusions quickly. I also take care of many GenConnect Boards and did loose all of them in which I did not take care of the Query board due all the boards, bios, wills, pensions, etc. being combined within the Query board. If you used one of these boards, now you know why I suddenly disappeared. I know many of you have concerns regarding copyright laws and the information you post to the boards and the mailing lists. The following was posted by Rootsweb Management. "When you post messages to mailing lists, message boards, and other facilities at RootsWeb, those posts remain your property under copyright law." The same is true for those using the message boards at Ancestry.com. In short, if you posted it, you own it." If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller’s Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at [email protected] There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you” and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. [email protected] 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. Kathleen Burnett List Mom [email protected]
