To the family of Patrica Cantrell, that's all of this list, I will be praying for Patrica and her baby. She has been so kind to help me with my research, sharing information freely many many times. Dianne Brown
We just went through this same thing with my granddaughter. She had shots, pills, and bed rest, and lots of prayers. The doctors were successful in staving off the delivery until the baby was fine. He is now 5 weeks old and doing great. We said a lot of prayers and God answered them. I hope this will be encouraging to Patricia and her family who are now on my prayer list. Dear Grace, Don't worry about it, please. I've been called so many things that I actually answer to Doris, Gloria, etc. now! My 5th grade teacher, a lovely woman, called me "duh-low'-rees" for an entire year, and boy, the kids got some good laughs out of that! It seems that children will give anyone a tough time if they can figure a way! We tried to call out three simple names, and they still caught it. The oldest is Alex (for ALEXANDER, of course), and the kids all called him "Chip" in high school bec. of the last name PRINGLE. You can't win! I still wish I had one of those lovely old family names that I keep finding out there! I'll just keep on answering to most anything, and hope that not too many of my former students find me bec. I'm certain they called me things worse than any of the above! As one of them has told me, I was "tough as nails." I hope they learned something! Godspeed... Dolores M. I'm posting this to a few pertinent lists. My apologies to all who receive it more than once. Malcolm Clyde "Mack" Kennemore passed away July 2, 2001 at 9:30 am in Tilamook, Oregon. Uncle Mack was born January 26, 1909 in Forsyth County, GA, second son of the late Augustus Cone Kennemore (born April 02, 1882 Forsyth County, GA died June 20, 1968 Forsyth County, GA) and the late Luella McClure Kennemore (born October 04, 1883 Forsyth County, GA died February 09, 1932 Toccoa, GA). In 1930, Uncle Mack graduated from North GA College with a degree in education and a reserve officer's commission. It is my understanding that he was a history teacher and basketball coach at Cumming, GA High School for 3 1/2 years. In 1937, he moved to Tilamook, OR as 1st Lieutenant, Commander of Co. 5477, Civilian Conservation Corps, Camp Trask. In Tilamook, he met his future wife, and they've lived there ever since. Uncle Mack retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1969. He was a member of Tillamook Elks Lodge No. 1437, which he joined in 1941, and he was a member of Tillamook (Oregon) County Pioneer Association. "Mack" Kennemore was the grandson of William Harleston Kennemore (born September 06, 1851 in Pickens County, SC died February 03, 1920 Forsyth County, GA) and Obedience Roxanna Mauldin (born March 21, 1855 Pickens District, SC died February 19, 1940 in Hall County, GA) and of William Bascomb McClure (born July 15, 1860 in GA died July 05, 1932 Gainesville, Hall County, GA) and Alma Rosetta Singleton (born September 04, 1863 in GA died February 03, 1907). I'll be happy to correspond with anyone researching these families or anyone who knew Uncle Mack. I was lucky enough to have made a trip to Oregon once in the 1980s to meet this wonderful man and his lovely wife. Judy Campbell Atlanta, GA My apologies to the list "mom" for my earlier error in sending this note to the request address. I didn't look closely at my pull-down list when I selected the address earlier. Mea culpa.

Dear List: On a recent trip to Easley, SC to visit relatives, I stopped in at the Easley library. There I found a book that was a collection of family histories of the area. Being a novice, I naturally did not make a note as to the title, etc. of this wonderful book! In it I found many of my ancesters listed in an article regarding Daniel Duncan Satterfield (my gr-gr-gr-grandfather). The information had been submitted by a Mrs. Velma Ables Moore living in Anderson, SC. I can't find a telephone listing for Velma Moore in Anderson. Before I start calling all the Moore's in the city, I was hoping someone on this list might know of her, or how I might get in touch with her. Thank you, Ann Gibson McPhee Washington State
Genealogy facts (or any facts) cannot be copyrighted in my opinion. A fact is a fact. If Uncle Bill was born in 1808 in SC and you post it to a board - you don't own that information. On the other hand, if you make a webpage and put pretty designs on it and post that Uncle Bill was born in 1808 SC and someone takes your webpage, designs and all, and makes their own webpage using your layout - THEN you have a copyright violation. If you copy out of a book using the exact words that someone else wrote, you violate their copyright. If you take the same words, mix them around, then you no longer have violated the copyright even though it says the same basic thing. Do you see my point? Facts alone do not belong to any one person. If a fact could be copyrighted, then you would never be able to open a library book and copy the genealogy data it contains and apply it to your own tree. You do this all the time with no qualms, don't you? If Ancestry.com takes your post and puts it verbatim on a CD they want to sell, then they should be guilty of copyright infringement. I don't know what happens to the law though if you post to a site and somewhere in little letters, they have said, in effect, "anything you post to their board becomes their property", especially after the fact. It is just plain annoying though, that something that started out as "free" for researchers, can be taken away from us at anytime because of a change in ownership of the space that holds the posts. It also irritates me that I had to figure out how to do a password to access material I had already posted to the site. There are many good websites on the Internet that explain copyright. If you are interested in reading about the subject, just use any search engine (my favorite is www.google.com). Just my opinion, Janice Mauldin Castleman Researching THOMPSON-GAINES-WINCHESTER in Pickens Co., SC

If you are serious about protecting your research/work from anyone/businesses you can do it SOMEWHAT by simple writing on it: Copyright 2001 Jane Doe You could even post this automatically with an email signature, if you wanted. This will scare off many businesses, at the least. You do NOT have to get permission or take further steps to formally get the work copyrighted. At least, this is the law as I understand it. Since I am not charging any of you for this legal advise, you can see that you are getting exactly what you are paying for. <g> I belong to a legal services plan that allows me to ask a good law firm an unlimited number of questions by phone during regular business hours. One of those monthly payment plans. Maybe I'll ask them this question after my vacation. Personally, I gladly allow anyone foolish enough to use my research to do so as they will.
