Hi Linda, I think this was written during a time that our family lore has it my ggrandfather,Daniel Carter Stewart,had lost his land in Pickens SC.after mortgaging it and using the money to start up a saw mill that failed. He may have followed a son Eugene Stewart to Ala.for a new start,but did return to Pickens/Anderson co.SC This was a transition period for this Stewart family branch,when several of them were starting to leave farming and go to work in the textile mills in SC and other states. I will try to type you this letter,some of the words and spelling is hard to make out,but I will try. This letter was addressed to: Mr.Daniel Stewart Carter's Limestone co.Ala. The letterheading states: Piedmont SC. Nov.30th 1893 This is how the letter goes: Mr.Daniel Stewart Carter's Ala.     3. Strange, someone on another list requested info for Eastatoe. I got permission from the person who posted this, to pass it on. See below. Hope this helps. Dianne EASTATOE is a legal township designation bordering on the South Carolina State line. If memory serves me, Eastatoe Township is bordered on the east by Dunn's Rock Township, on the north by Cathey's Creek Township and again on the north by Gloucester Township, and to the west is Hogback Township. The town of Rosman sits at the northern edge of Eastatoe township and highway 178 from Rosman to South Carolina pretty much runs right down the middle of it, dividing it in half north to south. If you find Rosman on a map and look at highway 178 leaving Rosman headed south, you will be looking at Eastatoe Township. It was named after the Eastatoe Indian Trading Trail that runs through that area (again, if memory is correct). [

Sunset Community is located in the area of SC Hwy 178, Hwy 11, Hwy 39, and Cleo Chapman Highway, About half way between Keowee-Toxaway State Park, on SC Hwy 11 and the intersection of Hwy 178(Brevard Hwy). Little Eastatoe Creek and Eastatoe Valley is in this section. Going toward Brevard, NC, on Hwy 178 (from intersection of 178 & 11), turn at the "Road Kill" cafe and follow SC hwy 39(back to Hwy 11) and you will be in the Eastatoe Valley,Sunset area.
