Most of the MERCK families that I knew growing up in Pickens Co. spelled their name MERCK. You may want to keep this different spelling in mind while you are looking; it can sometimes make the difference in finding the person. Godspeed... Hi This hand written document below was found in the home of a daughter of Lou Ella Prince Brookshire. No date on the document, but events were around 1892 forward. This document documents Jessie W.Prince b.abt 1828 d,1865 as a predeceased brother to Charles Prince,by listing the children of Jessie W.Prince. Jessie W.Prince was marrid to Elenora "Nellie" Kelly and is listed on the 1850,1860 Pickens co.census.Elenora is bur.in Mt Zion cem.Central SC. Conjecture and circumstancs suggest that Daniel and Rebecca Prince from Union co.Sc were the parents of Charles,Jessie,Elizabeth (Betsy),Rebecca (Becky) and Martha (?) Prince. Daniel and Rebecca are mentioned in the will of John Prince b.before 1750 m.Elizabeth. one source list the following: John Prince's father is Daniel Prince b.abt 1718 in Surrey ,Va.d.bef.Apr 1 1795 m.Lydia His father was Edward Prince b.abt 1860 in Surrey,James co.Va. d.1755 m.Elizabeth Ivey (Any thing in (brackets),I added to this document.Gay Stewart Beam) State of S.C. In The Court Of Common Pleas County of Pickens Elizabeth Prince Plantiff vs Rebecca Chumbler Foreman Prince,Ida Massengale and Ella Brookshire Defendants The complaint of the above named plantiff respectfully shows the court l. That on the day of December 1892 one Charles Prince late of the county of Pickens departed this life intestate leaving as his heirs at law his sisters the plantiff and the defendant Rebecca Chumbler and the children of a predeceased brother (Jessie W.Prince) to defendants Ida ( Mary Ida Prince)Massengale Ella (Lou Ella Prince) Brookshire and Foreman Prince (Foreman Mauldin Prince),the said Charles Prince having never been married. ll. That at the time of his death the said Charles Prince was seized in fee and in possession of the following described lands in the county of Pickens and state aforesaid,to wit: All that tract of land on the waters of Twelve Mile River containing two hundred and ninety acres (w24) more or less and has such metes and bounds as one set out in a deed from William Caantrel to Charles Prince date of September 10th 1856. 2.all that other tract or parcel of land on Lambert Branch waters of Twelve Mile River containing fourty eight acres more or less and has such metes and bounds as is shown by a plat made by John T.Prince on the 19th day of October 1881. lll. That no administration has been had upon the estate of the said Charles prince deceased. lV. That it would be to the interest of all the parties hereto sell said lands in two or three different tracts and divide the proceeds there of amoungst the said parties according to their respective interest. V. That said lands are subject to partition amoungst the plantiff and defendants as heirs at law of said Charles Prince deceased. Wherefore the plantiff prays that said lands may be partitioned amoungst the parties to this action according to their respective interest and for such other relief as may be just and proper.
